He mentioned Hayes by name, saying they'd be willing to "get creative" to move older guys out. Hope that means they'll do the same for Provy, RR, Laughts, ND, etc.
- Tomahawk

I think Laughts should go for the right return, I think he is a move now at the TDL, a team could use his skillset and versatility. I agree on the others, find a good deal and move a few pieces

I would absolutely take a 4th for him. I would be amazed if they got that however.
- MBFlyerfan

megna got a 4th. To me the market was set for those types.

The conversation before was people were only willing to take a 3 rd or better. But again. He is easily replaceable. Get assets to rebuild.

But we all know why you jumped on this one.

By who exactly? Players out there lining up to make the league minimum to sit in the press box? Who is also a better player than Seeler?

You don't want a young player sitting, so the player who could be his replacement is not in the organization. Connauton should never see the NHL again so he should be out.

As I said, if the deal is good I would deal him, I just don't see the market. I hope I am wrong and they can turn him into a mid round pick. But if it is a late round pick I would rather just keep him as a part time veteran 6 or 7 at the league minimum.

So every summer in free agency.

Seeler checks all the boxes. A torts guy. Torts has a lot more influence than people think imo. Therefore he will not be moved. Hope I am wrong.

A 12 year old kid would have no interest in 200 foot players or being "tough to play against" so the team would be better off. He also would have no interest in the salary cap but neither do the Flyers so that part is a wash.

Actually, what if anything recommends Fletcher as a GM over a 12 year old kid? Other than being the son of Clarke's idol and it being Clarke's way of being closer to his idol, I can't think of any.

Connauton isn't remotely the player Seeler is. Seeler at his salary is way better value than Connauton at the same salary.

And for the record, if they can get a good return for Seeler he should be traded. I just don't see that happening.

- MBFlyerfan

Seeler is a dime a dozen player that is easily replaceable. We should trade him for a good asset.

I’m not buying that the Flyers have suddenly changed their thinking. In fact, I look at this press conference and see them doubling down on the past few seasons of incompetence.

Yes, they’ve acknowledged that they need high end talent. Again. This isn’t new. They haven’t changed their approach on how to get that high end talent.

They’re simply hoping to get lucky as hell with a 6-10 overall pick and spend assets when available on the latest bright shiny object this off-season.

When rebuilding or in general. Absolutely correct.and will say almost any asset received is worth it. But you keep that narrative. Just like Nate vs brassard. Good deal.

Flyers Management are letting Torts to be the messenger and eventual fall guy when things go really South, in essence saying the things they know are true but don’t want to spout publicly. No accountability from the likes of CF, Dave Scott, Holmgren et al. These are the individuals who ultimately shape the direction of the franchise and their lack acknowledgment here tells me a lot about the current state of the franchise.

Good thing they’re realizing this now, at the trade deadline, and not last summer with a generational player waiting to be drafted this year.
