It feels like rivalries among players and teams is all but dead. The NHL lucked out with two superstar players on rival teams with Crosby/Ovechkin, but who is McDavid or Matthew's rival? No one. The Battle of Alberta can be interesting, but less so with Tkachuk gone.

Very quiet day on the trades front so far....not even hearing any whispers or rumblings of anything. I guess in saying that there's already been quite a few trades haha. Friedman saying Kane can fit under the Rangers cap after 5pm today is the only thing so far.

EDIT: I guess I should keep in mind its only 10:20am for the majority of the teams in the league and like 7am for a chunk of them on the west coast of North America haha.

While i think thats possible I can barely speak any French and Montreal is my favorite city Ive ever been to. Ive been there 8 or 9 times. Seen the Pens in the Bell Centre there 4 times....Gonchar let me and my buddy cross the street by the Bell when he played for the Habs one time, early game day haha. Anyway, they know if you speak French or not without you even saying word, its uncanny, and they speak English to you. Now, as for NHL wife social circles and what not, perhaps she was shunned but I will say that most of the players on the Canadiens, and their families, do not speak French.

taxes considerably less in florida vs canada as well. weather considerably better too (obviously), and travel is much worse for those western canadian teams. reasons were a plenty

Agree to all of that except Montreal is considered more so Eastern Canada with an EST time zone and about an only hour and a half flight to NYC. Ive always thought how crazy it must be for the players when they are from the East or West conference and have to play an early, or late game on the opposite side. Especially like a matinee in a time zone thats 3 to 4 hours different than where they usually sleep.

If you havent noticed, we dont send our best and brightest to government, either in elected roles or bureaucratic roles. Way too many average people have way too much power to make decisions like that. There's no reason you should need a vax card to come into the country.
