More silliness with the Canucks trading a first and 2nd for Hronek who has 1 year left .....WTF ? Big Overpay.

Meanwhile, Larkin signs for 8 yrs in Detriot at $8.7 M. He's 27 , I'd call that a fair deal though as Larkin is a very good center and cap will be going up.

Word out of Detriot is the LW Tyler Bertuzzi is about to get traded. Might be a fit for the Jets. ?

Just putting this out there.

Why not trade PLD now.
Best season ever
Will not sign with the jets
Will be an UFA after next season and when the jets trade him at the deadline next year the return will be very, very poor compared to what the return would be today.

I get that he is needed for a playoff run but can’t see much happening when we match up against anyone in the west this year. Unless Helly stands on his head for 10 games in the playoffs.

- Jetter

Was PLD hurt yesterday or were the Jets keeping him out of the last game before the trade deadline. Hmmm!

Seriously though, the market is very small right now. Sending him to any team in the West when you might meet him in the playoffs is just dumb. That only leaves the east and the only contender left with enough capital to make the deal is Carolina. I don't see how Chevy could turn down a Morrow, Kochetkov deal. Is Carolina that desperate though? I doubt it.

Ehlers needs two linemates who can skate and will go to the net.
- bennythehat

I am fully aware that this is an outside the box 'take' on Ehlers and wouldn't find a whole lot of supporters - it is not an insult on his skills either. Ehlers really doesn't need anyone else, he is a one man wrecking crew for moving the puck through the neutral zone, gaining the attack zone and ability to get the puck to the net. Let him do that without worrying about doing what he doesn't do as well - geling with linemates, consistent pace, being a pass first player, playing physical. Lowry and Barron can go to the net, Ehlers can get it there and get just as many points as he currently does 5v5 while making the Lowry line dangerous. Let him continue to be the guy on the #2 pp and excel vs 2nd tier pk matchups (hopefully with more than 20 seconds to work with). Meanwhile the lines that rely on chemistry, detailed, structured play can do their thing. Ehlers defense is consistently good enough that we don't have to sit waiting for those inconsistent moments when he brings the offensive goods.

Let him be a less polarizing 65 point player instead of trying to turn him into an 82 point player at the expense of team structure.

2nd pair RD who is still RFA when contract is up. Better question is where was Chevy on this?

Yotes have now given away Ghost for basically nothing. That drops the cap down to about $66 M. If they trade Chycryn then its down to $61.5 ish or about $1 M above the floor. They still may trade away , Schmaltz,or Crouse, or Bjugstad , or Ritchie. They need to once again take salary back.

Just wondering if the Jets pull of some type of trade here could this be the way they offload Wheeler ? I'd have thought it might be taboo for Chevy/ Chipper to trade a career Jet but after seeing LAK trade Quick I now think anything is possible.

It’s not the return everyone was expecting.

Odd deal, like why if your Arizona not wait 2 more days see if the desperation hits for a team.

Ehlers was looking ok in the OT, we had zone control and movement then he took a low percentage shot from the blueline and gave the puck away ending all momentum.

His play lacks structure, however, the skillset is for real. I would staple him on the third line with Lowry and turn him loose to play how he feels. Linemates don't make a difference to what he brings, anyone he is with will see a bump in offense at a similar level. Jets can maximize his potential if he gets similar amount of playing time with Lowry, continues getting 2nd line PP where his zone entries are excellent and gets late game time when we are down a goal or two.

His no look back hand passes to nobody / giveaways after gaining the zone didn't start with Lowry as his center. Or, he can gain the zone with possession but works himself into the corner, falls down or gets knocked down and turnover.

I dont know what the solution is for him, but Lowry as a center is obviously not suitable for a player like this. Lowry in OT is also questionable in my books.

I also had to scratch my head when I saw Wheeler take the 3rd shoot out shot ..... Here you have Stenlund pumped up after scoring 2 good goals, he's pumped and Morrisey scoring two goals and he's pumped, they both got the goal scoring feeling, why not put one of those guys out the for the shootout?

I was surprised with Wheeler. I get Connor and Schief... whatever

Good for Ottawa. In a tough division and willing to make some moves, and get Debricant at the draft now Chychrun.

Meanwhile in Jets land a team that's better than Ottawa playing in a weak conference, have got McGoarty, Lambert, Salmonsson, Heinola, Niederreiter and their 2023 first round pick.

Tampa Bay Lightning have traded Namestinkov to the San Jose Sharks in exchange for forward Mikey Eyssimont.

Good for Eyssimont! What a journey he has had this year.

So the trade deadline is fast approaching. Every year I am so pumped - and nothing major happens.

This year - I'm thinking "blah" - so perhaps something major will happen?

Ya... I am feeling the same way. After an orgy of trades being made around the league, Dubas can now be anointed with the distinction of top horse trader "ever" by changing half his team.... and so far crickets here, on a team that started hot, in a weak division and its crickets.

BTW, it is interesting that Essiymont somehow factors into some type of value or a deal with him starting out in the AHL this year. Two so called assets of him and Kovecevic where the team receives squat.

There's been quite a bit of movement already, some bigger names changing teams, a lot of 1sts dealt, an NHL version of an arms race happening in the Eastern Conference, Toronto has changed almost a 1/4 of their lineup, what isn't major about all that?.. lol

Or did you just mean from a Jets perspective?

Yea, just from a Jets prospective. All told, maybe the craziest deadline ever!!!

It would be "so funny" if the Leafs were knocked put in the first round - 4 straight!

Bertuzzi? Don't have any interest in a guy who's afraid of a needle, of all things!

Bruins are welcome to him!

I don't care about the vax thing. No one should be forced to get vaxxed with inproperly tested vaccines.

Now I see the price, a 1st and a 4th for a UFA of his caliber is a relatively steep price to pay.

Not sure at all that we are making any more moves but if did, who do we have left to trade with?
St. Louis
Vancouver
San Jose
Philly
Arizona
Columbus
Toronto (on everyone's list)
Montreal
Nashville (Barrie?)

Anyone else?
