Boeser/Ferland(LTIR Cap)
for
Pens 2023/2024 2nds

- Nighthawk

Probably need to retain or take a dump as well.

On NYI falling I’m more undecided now. Other teams have many games in hand but those chasing NYI are not making any hay of late. Sabres are team I see as making any move. The Pens are looking old & desparate. Enter Boeser 👍

I hope you’re right friend. Carolina and Pittsburgh will have to answer, I could now see Garland going to Carolina.

So we agree it's a net positive move that improves the team.
Noted.
That still doesn't mean they're trying to 'win now' with the trade.

I got one am glad to see is go all in to make the playoffs!

We've got the wingers to win now and I don't get landing a young top 4 RHD when everyone knows that LHD and wingers is how you win championships!

We're only 40 points (93 points should do) out of getting the final playoff spot in the West with a game in hand on both teams currently in the wc position. 22 games to go. I'm calling it now, we're going 19-1-2 down the stretch!

Steep price to pay but the odds of the islanders pick being a top 4 rhd within our window( 3 to 4 years) is slim.

Solid trade as long as we move Boeser, Garland, Myers, OEL for a couple top 60 picks we're solid.

I could see Heidt there at 15 not the other 2. No matter what they would be 4-6yrs of making an impact if they developed. The 2nd round is where I think are many good players to mine. We need to recoup 2nds.
- Nighthawk

I think the 2nd round is where you draft defence unless there’s a can’t miss and the 3rd for goalies.

Canes added Ghost for a 3rd. Idk if they keep adding but a 2C is lacking & don’t see that happening.

Plenty of interesting D will be in the 2nd. This draft doesn’t really have any shiney ones in the 1st.

Reinbacher is a reach but good tool box.

Simashev is a beasty defensive LHD.

Many others are tweeners imo.

Perhaps they’re planning on some of their good young defencemen they’ve drafted making the roster next year. There’s three or four good young players ready to step in. That’s what good drafting does for you.

Funny, Yzerman wasn’t afraid to rebuild through the draft even though they had a young’ish Dylan Larkin on the roster. Different mindset. Now the Wings have a better team, a better prospect pool and a brighter immediate future IMO.

- LeftCoaster

I'd say most Detroit poop is overrated thanks to Stevie being there. Drafting has been good but now with players making the team finally, it's starting to lack. Considering what the team looks like, they should be better than they are.

3.75m LTIR cap space still to use up. Imo imperative it gets used this TDL to start setting up next seasons cap management.

How’s Joulevi, how’s Virtanen?, how’s Nicklas Jensen, how’s Gaunce?, shroeder?, White?, Hodgson?

Do you really trust the Canucks to draft their own?
Beyond Pettersson and Hughes the other 12 picks we’ve had in the first round turn into NHL players that play more than 250(4 seasons) games less than 50% of the time. That’s amongst the lowest in the NHL.

Yes to me you draft a D in the first round if you have a Clarke, Chychrun or Sergachev available. Reinbacher I’d maybe take 28th-35th. But I feel like there's 20-25 can’t miss forwards in this years draft, that will be top 6 within 3-5 years.

It’s not the individuals coming in making the difference but the sum of all the parts working together. That’s also the coaching.

Canucks don’t want to tank next season. So these moves are all about the turnaround. Not sure they get there but then they will be selling Petey and QH.

- Quinn's Quest

There really isn't enough to turn around. Back to no cap space and still under performing contracts. Are still going to need to hit on a few moves before this team might even be wild card competitive.

It’s a loaded draft for top 6 F’s. We will get one hoping a C with our 1st.

This is one reason why I see getting Hronek is timely.

2024 draft is for another day.

The Canucks only need 2 top 4 D now, preferably a top pairing capable one.

Cap space is only in the present. More time til the TDL passes & offseason moves & buyouts. Cannot have tunnel vision only on the now.

Going on the old & overused cap hits for poor value…

Myers-will be given away we hope
OEL-potential buyout
Boeser-maybe gone this TDL

Other moves are possible that all will lead up to next seasons roster & cap. Plenty of time with this TDL being a very key time to keep the dominos falling.
