VANTEL, we've talked about this before but having undersized winners is how you win championships. Build from the wing, then LHD, then center, then RHD, then in goal. It's the formula!

We are right on schedule then

I haven't given up on LIcker, I just have no expectations. There is a difference.

For a team that clearly knows it should have been drafting D and Cs makes no sense drafting a small winger. It has been mentioned on here over and over that we have an abundance of wingers.

- VANTEL

Yes it’s strange we picked a winger. I cannot see the reasoning behind it either. BPA? Not my fave drafting strat that so many like to prefer.

On the abundance of wingers I’m of 2 minds on that. Acquiring the best assets & better internal competition it’ll provide. 2nd there will be a winger(s) traded sooner or later.

Team speed has to improve & Beau adds that along with his production. Pod will be expected to develop & be more of a power winger 3rd wheel. On Hog I think he’s a tweener that’ll be moved. Brock is a goner & only a matter of time. Garland I like & looks to be better utilized now.

This draft has to be a homerun there is no room for error. More trades are needed to keep on redesigning the roster is imperative. The D has to be the major focus. Cap management goes without saying & needs more flexibility. I’d like 1 key D added as in UFA Gavrikov if cost makes sense.

Boeser at 4.5 x3 years is a steal and should be worth a 1st even if he's only a 30 goal guy.

Why would we want Greenway? He's trash.

- Pres.cup

A 1st for Boeser if 4.5m isn’t outta the question. Challenge is the right team & fit for an offensive only winger who is slow.

Big & skates very well. Problem is his inconsistency. Big guys are often later bloomers but risk is attached. 3m is not a lot of cap.

The way all these trades are playing out early will make TDL Day on sports networks pretty boring being a day of recap lol

Lol it very well could be. Looking at the standings, I understand why Toronto is going all in.

Because the 1st series is already determined and they’ll be playing Tampa. The 4th place team is so far back and Boston is so far ahead, that the only thing that could change there is who has home ice.

If they somehow make it past Tampa, then they’ll see Boston in the second round.

There’s probably a lot of jobs on the line in Toronto's front office. Leafs only have 4 picks in the next 4 years I think in the first 4 rounds

Well the good news for all bottom feeders with cap space are in vulture mode. Canucks included especially if can move Boeser & not retain giving us 2 spots to use.

Many WC chasers in the East are yet to make a big move. Canes stand out in the arms race. Out west less noise but that will change.

This could be a huge TDL for us yet.

I doubt it, I get the feeling that Schenn is the only player that has a chance at being traded, and that all depends on the offers and whether or not he's willing to go when his child is about to be born. It's highly unlikely that anyone else gets dealt by the deadline. Most deals we want, like Boeser, Garland, Myers, etc. probably are draft day/summer deals.

True but I would rather an unprotected 2025 1st then Greenway and a late 2023 2nd for Boeser.
We also have so many extra non impact players that I would rather cull a few then get one more.

I don’t say he gets moved but…

Demko is our best TDL chip given a few teams need a serious upgrade in net. LAK Sabres come to mind & maybe others. Both have prospects & picks but we probably agree LAK have what we need & want. Now the only way it could happen is if Mgmt sticks to the 2 year statement it’ll take to get this on track. Demko out could make more sense if his value is high. Is Silovs the reason? Or a UFA goalie or trade for one?

Earlier posts suggested LAK need him now so let’s play the game & submit our offer.

Did anyone here what Seravelli was talking about this morning? He said he was talking with some NHL gms and they told him a stat. That is that after the 24th overall pick, the chance of any team picking a player that plays more than 100 games in their career is 2.4%.

So basically 25th overall and after you have a 1-in-50 chance of drafting a full time NHL player.
In the 3rd round and later you have a 0.40% chance of drafting a full time NHL player.

Upon hearing that, I wouldn’t put any stock into any draft picks acquired or traded away from rounds 3-7.

I am afraid this will be what happens. Just Shenn for something but not what people want.

They want to keep JTM and the other trade candidates won’t get real offers.

Thoughts on Demko is he in play and should he be?

Yeah lots of bottom picks being raved about. So far only Canucks have received a 1st rounder that’s got any potential. But not sure what to make of those traded prospects.

The math isn’t exact. Guaranteed contracts hinder prospects opportunity. Tunnel vision & bias further hinder opportunity whereas prospects will get pigeon holed & buried in the minors through their prime years. Not all teams develop well. Retreading vets in the bottom 6 on the cheap further exacerbates opportunity.

I think with the first pick they should take the Russian who will most likely be still on the table and then every pick draft the best D

D is needed hard to get without reaching.

Russian may be a steal if they are around 10 -12. Will just wait for the lotto balls for now.

You're optimistic that they aren't going to go on a 10 game heater to finish the season and pick 12 to 14?

How many 80 point wingers do we have? Yes another winger, we need elite skill to compete.
