Connecting dots on #Leafs cap after McCabe/Lafferty trade:

1. Either Toronto is not planning to activate Matt Murray until the playoffs.
2. Or Toronto is now moving one of Kerfoot / Engvall / Holl before the deadline.

Seems to be some smoke recently with Kerfoot and #Canucks.

I'd be real curious on Kerfoot to Canucks. I don't know why Canucks would do it unless they felt they could 1. flip him or 2. re-sign him but I think he tests free agency.

Great! Maybe we can convert a couple of our 7 extra forwards to defence. Foote and Gonchar will have their work cut out for them.

Market has been set on big moves.
Expect a big haul if any truth to this.

Carolina has to make a move, I think. They've been on-the-cusp good for too long. The east is a beast, all the other teams are loading up, and they have deep prospects and a solid/young enough team to pursue someone. Now that Meier is out, JTM is looking like a great consolation The 8 years is tough, but that also fits their window so now is the time for them to act, IMO

Leafs would need to add for that to happen. I know Allvin is not that bright but even a fifth grader knows there would need to be a pick coming to Canucks to help you guys with your cap dump.

VAN saw the return on Meier who's a RFA under team control for 2 more years.

JTM who has comparable stats, some teams want a player with term. Car?

Greenway 3m has slumped & is in the doghouse. Buying low is ok but another winger is a problem. Wanting 2m retained on Brock is a big ask that I don’t think is equitable in a 1 for 1 at this time.

Nyet to Kerfoot. There would have to be other big trades to rent him before that makes any sense. The tank is for real if all of that occurs.

I’m fine either way. Never was against getting Miller nor that upset at his 7/8m deal. I don’t see him moved unless offered a crazy haul. If it’s the Canes it has to start with Morrow & a 1st ++.
