Carolina has to make a move, I think. They've been on-the-cusp good for too long. The east is a beast, all the other teams are loading up, and they have deep prospects and a solid/young enough team to pursue someone. Now that Meier is out, JTM is looking like a great consolation The 8 years is tough, but that also fits their window so now is the time for them to act, IMO

VAN saw the return on Meier who's a RFA under team control for 2 more years.

JTM who has comparable stats, some teams want a player with term. Car?

Smart move holding him out a week to evaluate the market.

We've all heard JT Miller's name in/out of #Canucks trade speculation over the last few weeks again. He's not playing tonight, but his agent Brian Bartlett confirms to me it's a "minor injury that should keep him a week or so." Adds it's "unrelated to trades or anything else."

Connecting dots on #Leafs cap after McCabe/Lafferty trade:

1. Either Toronto is not planning to activate Matt Murray until the playoffs.
2. Or Toronto is now moving one of Kerfoot / Engvall / Holl before the deadline.
