Assuming timo Meier is a pipe dream… I’d like to see the jets trade for either Sam reinhart or Conor garland…. Both are signed through next year minimum and have great underlying numbers on not so great teams.

Would like to see the jets grab some grit for the playoffs.
Wanted Hathaway but Boston nabbed him.

Ritchie, Watson or Jeannot would be good fits

Just don’t trade a 1st for a rental PLEASE !

Feel the Jets will make the grit deal on trade deadline day, maybe for a Schenn or Edmundson type. Guess see where we stand after Tuesday?

Predict (hope?) for a Jets win today - 4-1 Jets. Could have won the Blue Jackets or Islanders games last week with a break here or there, so hopefully they get that break, and bring the work boots, today.

Still hoping for a Chychrun,Meier, etc deal, but hopes are fading. But ya never know!

Just some schedule analysis. I think the Jets will have a pretty good idea on their playoff situation by midnight March 8th, about 4 days after the trade deadline. Lots of intra-conference games among wild-card contenders.

In that time:

Jets play the Oilers twice, and Wild once ( plus the Isles and Kings, Sharks) )
Oilers play the Bruins and Leafs, and Jets twice
The Flames play the Wild twice , Wild also play the Bruins and Leafs.
Wild play the Flames twice , and the Jets once.

If Jets could somehow win 5 out of 6 here then I'm positive they will make the playoffs because in that same 5/6 scenario it would likely mean the Oilers would lose 3/4 or worse, and one of Flames or Wild would be below .500. This would grow the Jets cushion substantially.

Goal is 5/6 but I'd be happy with 4/6 with wins against divisional opponents. Anything below .500 would be a disaster. So an important 10 days ! Might be Chevy's thinking too as he has now made one quick trade and might be early on another ahead of these important games.

These would be good moves as well!

I still want the Jets to swing for the fences.

Barbashev to Vegas which means Patrik Kane is heading to the NYR. Those moves almost certainly mean that Timo Meier is heading to the Devils. Dandanov to Stars.

That eliminates three big names and three teams (maybe four) from the competition.

Hurricanes, Pens, Oilers, Avs, and Kings are still hunting for some big game and now Karlsson is the biggest prize out there. Chychyrn is in second.

Really can't see Karlsson waiving for Jets, but I guess stranger things have happened. Would want San Jose to retain $3.5M going forward each season if we dealt.

The big hope here is that we go all in on Chychrun - and either Crouse, Bjugstad or Schmaltz. What, Pionk, Heinola and a 2024 1st - would that get it done? Maybe add a current 3rd/4th line Jet forward?

Too bad on Kane, one wonders what magic a Connor- Scheifele- Kane line would produce. Kane is the one calling the shots on this though.
