The under 17 US soccer team beat Canada to advance to the final against Mexico.

It isn’t hard to find more valuable ways to spend your time than watching the Flyers fail to fire Fletcher Scott Clarke and the rest of the funky bunch.

Can someone please tell me again how smart and accomplished our front office is.

So who wants to defend the Cuck and Torts show now? And please, tell me again how we shouldn’t criticize the ancient advisors Mr Meltzer.

This team is lost without TK. Make him the captain already! Unless you can get a king's ransom for him and in that case you move on from him and blow it up!
- Phillywhiteout

I agree! TK should be captain. It's a sad state of affairs when a team is so "lowly" that they don't bother to name a captain.

poor Hart tonight .. he is being left out to dry. Torts should pull him at this point.
- jd250

I feel bad for Hart. He'd flourish on a legitimate, competetive team. So sad we are wasting the talents of a great young goalie.

I'll never defend Chuckles but still don't think Clarkie, Homer and all the old goons have has much influence as some on here think that they have. Bill follows the team and he knows more than any of us keyboard warriors. Bottom line is Comcast only cares about selling tickets, merch, etc. They brought in Torts to stay competitive
so people keep going to games. We can cry on here every day about the direction of the team but it won't make a difference.

Comcast didn’t go out seeking to hire Torts.

The antiques that still very much so help guide the direction of this franchise went out seeking Torts.

His style, and approach to hockey is exactly what they want.

The tankers on here should be very happy after last night's effort. I only saw the game until halfway through the second period and that was long enough. TK is the engine that drives this team and should be named captain next year if he is not traded. And to think there were people on here that think Hayes should be captain. And he ain't going to the B's either. They made their trade and will be hoisting the Cup come June most likely. Hopefully a couple more teams will pass the Flyers in the remainder of the season. Sell...sell...sell...but I won't be watching cause I won't watch non competitive hockey. One other note...just give Sanheim a purse instead of a hockey stick. Perhaps he can hit someone with that? Can't believe Chuckles signed that little girl to a long term contract.

Bill also gets a paycheck from the team. I take everything he says with a grain of salt. Plus I very much doubt he’s sitting in Scott’s or Fletcher’s offices listening to whom they may be speaking with.

The influence is so obvious, the only ways one could not be aware of it is to one, just not want to admit that's the case due to loyalty or to just be oblivious to it.

So now the team is non competitive. What happened to the miracles that Torts was performing? How this year was so different. Some Flyers fans have very short memories.

Well things change right? Torts could have been doing good work and at the same time, when the players feel their season is over they stop again. Two things can happen. This isn't a world of absolutes so I wouldn't consider only one way or the other.

You know, same things Berube saw in St. Louis with his team.

you trade him 100%. Cant imagine the kings would have serious interest. An ivan / hart package can get this tem on the right path. This team isnt contending while they are under contract.

only a blind person would say that the compete level is the same as previous teams. Doesnt mean the team is better or will equate to more wins.

Why would the Flyers ever do that?? Listen to yourself for a moment. The Flyers have a couple of solid players in key positions that are essential to building a good team. Why would the Flyers trade that away, its the only strength they have. The bottom line is this team just needs a top line and if they tank properly this season, they can get another piece of that top line. I think TK is part of a top line here. I think a healthy Farabee and Couturier will be part of a 2nd line here. I think Gauthier has the potential to be a top line winger in the NHL. Just need the top line center and there are 3 of them at the top of this year's draft. The Flyers just need to grab one of them and within a few years they will be contending. That is what makes this season so frustrating as a fan, the seemingly unwillingness of Flyers management to go this route. They would rather the quick fix which may fill one hole, but will create new holes. The Flyers have some good players on their team in key positions, they should just focus on filling the positions they don't have by drafting very high in a generational draft, and then within a few years they can clear cap space and they are contending again. I see the path so clearly, but then again, I care about the team, not myself. Can Fletcher truly say the same thing?

Torts himself has said that the team never had a problem w/ compete and attitude in the room since day 1. And the roster is mostly holdovers, so do the math.

The main difference is that the system they play is simplified to the point where they have no choice but to be on the same page. AV's situational puck pressure and man on man required a lot of read and react. Torts' sit back system is more about basic coverages and collapsing.

The problem is that a sit back system can only take you so far in 2023. Couple it with the relative lack of talent and you get what we're watching now. Good teams like Seattle, Toronto, Boston etc who have their poop together just dismantle the Flyers' defensive posture easily.

Yup, exactly. Everyone save players still on ELCs and prospects should be up for sale. Sadly, even if they were, Chuck Fletcher would be the guy making the deals and that never ends well

It's comical how you like to be critical of everyone's comments on here and yet you are the king of backtracking on your comments. It's called reality...they haven't been as competitive in the past few games. It has NOTHING to do with having a short memory. And I stand by my previous comments that Torts has gotten way more out of this team than should be possible. The Flyers should have hired Tocchet in hindsight cause that would have guaranteed a good tanking season!

That's what everyone was saying that Tortorella was going to correct. The team playing hard and the rhetoric that Tortorella offered that other teams were going to know they were in for a fight when the Flyers got off the bus. That he would coach the quit out of the team.
