I assume if another trade was going down the parting GM calls the other and says, yea I’m gona need a bit more now.

This could reshape the entire market.

- ImThatGuy

I think all the other GMs will be like yeah that ain’t happening.

A guy whose career high is 41 points just got 5 draft picks…what could they get for Mitts and Olofsson? 12 picks between the two of them?

Some franchises try and trade guys to teams they want to play. It's a good look for future FA players. You know that, or should.

Just because I want the team to stay the course , doesnt mean I'm a bad GM.

It just means our opinions vary. 🤔

Free Agents don’t want to sign with rebuilding teams. You should know that.

Because trading for a 26 year old controlled player in his prime is a bad idea to wait for it…become contenders for the next 6-8 years…

Completely missing the point that 70 point players who are good defensively and a beast to play against don’t grow on trees and don’t become available in a trade very often.

Take into account the way the cap is set up for the Sabres, they’re in perfect position to add such a player.

I am not talking about becoming a cup contender now, but down the road. Timo Meier helps get them to that point, plus gives the fan base a potential playoff berth this year, you know something they haven’t done in 11 years.

You add a player like him now makes this team better now, and for the future. He is the perfect example of a player to add now, he’s not a Patrick Kane pending UFA.

- Stripes77

Do you consider the Sabres a cap team or a free spending Franchise?

Do you really think the Sabres want to pay another winger 9 million in the future with a core team already established?

Wow, you really havent considered anything but blind anger towards nothing....

Jeannot trade broke cap friendly.

The return on the Jeannot trade was such a surprise it generated more peak traffic to the site than the Meier trade.

Boss just stop. Seriously you have no idea what you’re talking about. I’ve done the math time and time again. I’ve played around with the cap staying the same, going up a few million and under every circumstance, with the players they have signed, the players they’ll need to sign, the players coming off contracts, they’ll be able to afford him and keep everyone else they should keep.

You haven’t done any of that. You’re a “vibes” guy. That’s all fine and dandy, but until Adams actually does something to improve this team besides waiting for his kids to hopefully develop, they’ll be in a race for the wild card every year.

Thinking adding a player who could make more than players you have signed is going to break up the locker room just proves your locker room isn’t as strong as you think it is. Players should want to win, adding more good players to a locker room is something they should want.

Sure does, but damn they gave up a lot. Last year he shot 20%. This year he’s around 5%. That’s a big drop off and a lot to pay for a guy to play on the 3rd line.

Remember that time a few years ago when the Sabres traded Hall to where he wanted to go.

Did a lot for this franchise.

Tampa is a team that has the right to go for broke, though. They're pretty much the closest thing to a dynasty this league has had in a long time. If they win the Cup this year, nobody is going to remember the lean years 4-5 season later.

That being said, this wasn't necessarily the guy I would go all-in for.

I like the player for the Sabres, just not at that cost at all.

Him having a cheap contract and being cost controlled probably raised the price for him a bit, but wow 5 picks!

Hear me out.

If Grier is willing to retain on Karlsson and do a full rebuild seriously go get him and Hertl.

Jokiharju, Peterka, two 1sts.

Do it.

Next man up.

Imagine acting like some kind of expert and making fun of another poster for years for being a season ticket holder.

Then using your vast hockey knowledge to compare pat Kane to sam reinhart.

Good post

Being able to make a move and add a great player and being able to afford one are great. Good work keeping it under the cap.

You're missing the point.

Sabres dont spend money, you may want them too.
It's not how your team works, like it or not.
