That means you're not going to stop it, you're only going the eye for an eye route.

You're god damn right.

It's part of the NHL, it's been part of the NHL for 100 years. We need to participate fully and not just receive the consequences.

- lacaprup

We’ve got some serious assets to protect. We are way too soft. A team that does not even get in Verhaghes face after he chases down our best player and plow him from behind, is in need of a character upgrade.

So, to be clear, Lindy shouldn't have gone with Kaleta, Mair and Peters right?
- lacaprup

That was in response no ?

So having Kaleta, Mair, and Peters didn’t stop the original act ?

But, but, but

Atleast they tried. That is also why I brought up kane. Plug and play on the 1st line

Price is high because he’s worth it and we don’t want to pay.

Eventually with all the 1st or 2nd round picks. We will have to move them. It’s not possible to keep them all

- Sabretooth9

I wouldn't pay it either for a guy who's 34

Who says this is stopping anything? This is to let the other teams know there is a price. It's all you can do, because a power play goal means jack poop.

Let's be clear: Lindy made a mistake according to you. True or false?

Even if they clubbed Verhagee, how does that solve anything ?

Does that all of a sudden heal Dahlin’s concussion if Verhagee gets put on a stretcher afterwords ?

- Swedish_Jesus

Nope.
It prevents others from doing it...might have to do it 3 - 4 times before the message is clearly communicated. God forbid they do that though.

How many roads must a man walk? How could anyone answer that? I know for a fact I've watched my best player get scummed two games in a row with ZERO RESPONSE, and now he's hurt. Shocker.
- lacaprup

I answered it for you my guy.

The presence of David Clarkson didn’t stop John Scott from tomahawking Phill Kessel in a preseason game.

The presence of John Scott didn’t prevent the leafs guy from going after Flynn to start the whole brawl in the first place.

So having a goon to go after Verhagee is fun and all but Dahlin is still missing todays game

If having a goon on your roster prevented scummy hits, then we’d never see any of this across the NHL.

Yet, even teams that have goons still have their skilled guys roughed up, hence the reason they are employed in the first place.

The Sabres scored on both the PP’s resulting from those hits in question, and won both games.

That’s how to extract revenge.

- Swedish_Jesus

Verhage is now a goon?
If so, we please get 5 of those goon varieties, please I beg of you.

Is he? What if the goon demolished the scumbag from Tampa the night before, and thos disuaded Verhaeghe? What if the goon then injured Brayden Point so Tampa's season is ruined? Lots of possibilities that can change the decision making of other people. Not responding at all also changes the decision making of other teams: it makes them run us more.

No that’s just something you tell yourself to make you feel better.

How many Crosby concussions did Matt Cooke and Brooks Orpik prevent ?

No Tuch for all of March and no Dahlin today. That high of sweeping the Florida trip is gone.

Adams is going to stand pat…

I don't think people are asking for a goon in the mold of John Scott or Brashear or Peters.

I think we are asking for players in the Tom Wilson or Jordan Greenway mold to a lesser extent. Players who can play minutes on a third or fourth line that put the fear of retaliation into the minds of the other team if they should run one of our players. We don't have a player like that. And other teams know it.

Do you know 8t to be zero? No, because others didn't happen that could have is just as reasonable deduction.

So, to be clear we are talking about Verhage...the guy that has ~32/21 or ~0.90 ppg.
He's who you are calling a goon?

When was the last time we hurt the best player on another team with a dirty hit? You know, because goons don't matter.

Don’t NJ fans know that by acquiring Meier they will:

-Destroy the Vibes in the room

-Decimate the future of the team for all eternity

-Piss player off because you might have to pay him more than others

-Not be able to sign anyone else because of cap

-NJ is already good why can’t they just be happy with what they have?

-they are trying to speed up their build to a cup, they are only a playoff contender not a cup contender.

-he might make them worse

Tuch out at least two weeks. Sounds like a fracture. My guess is 3-4.

Buffalo wants to add and his injury adds urgency. Hard to think they don't do something. At least one acquisition is probably going to be bargain bin.

This should be a real eye opener for the FO...WTF do we do now...there is nobody like him.
Go get a Meier and Crouse type to elevate/switch as necessary. We have 207 soft fast Players/Prospects who could fill in for JJ, Quinn (far less soft) on the wing, we will have C's soon who could step in and replace Tage for several games (Savoie, Kulich, Ostund), Krebs and Jost replace each other. Pylons for Girgs and Okposo. (Cue a Hatty for each today).

Wake the (frank) up FO! You won't be able to play 60% often guys coming up. Meier and Crouse are guys we pray these Prospects will turn into...and will be very lucky if they do.
Fvcking guys are 25/26 not 32.
