They are producing, They both also trail Ryan Nugent Hopkins in pts. They aren’t what they once were. The top six isn’t good enough. Main reason I could care less about the bottom six until it’s fixed. - Grinder47
You mean that 1st overall selection guy who's on the best PP in the history of the game with McDavid and has 39 of his 72 points there this season? The guy who has the same ppg as Sid even though a lot more of Sids points are even strength? |

You're diverting, man... Mental errors are not a system or way of playing like you originally suggested. - MattStrat
Its not mental errors. Berg, Marchand, Krejci all play on the defensive side of the puck first. They also make the smart play and cover up. Then the Bruins D febse is also really conservative. But when they do jump up there’s a forward back. This go go go bullpoop brand of hockey doesn’t work anymore for the penguins. |

Yes. That guy. Top six needs addressed before you go dumpster diving for bottom 6 replacements. It’s like a fishing tournament, you get 5 fish on the board as soon as possible, then use your time to make upgrades. Pens got their top six. Sid and Geno are the biggest fish. Time to make upgrades. |

Bergeron and Kreji taking MASSIVE paycuts isn't hurting either
I had always hoped to see Sid, Geno and Letang taking 1-2 million during their twillight while ownership/management surrounded them with talent and youth and they competed for cups until they retired for good |

He's playing wing with McDavid. Let's not compare them. |

They aren’t taking massive pay cuts though. Just bonuses that will go on next years cap as overages. |

Yeah, I mean if you acquire a top 6 guy it could then push a current top 6 down into bottom 6.... Two birds, one stone kinda thing. However, Pens are pretty bare in assets for top 6 guys, especially non rentals. |

Imagine Geno and Letang did that though?
Bergeron and Krejci will probably just do it again next year. They'll each carry 2 million in overages and sign another cheap deal with more bonuses punted until the next season
They've got 46 points out of Krejci for 1 million, 21 goals and 43 points out of Bergy for 2.5. Figure out next year next year

Yeah I can imagine all the horrible ways Hex could spend extra cap space, no sweat. |

So Kap is going on waivers....whats the cap savings on that if no one picks him?...which I assume no one will - MattStrat
Assuming DOC takes his spot about 200k.
They don't need to clear the full amount to bring Ruuta back because they weren't using it all. Just enough to add DOC and Friedman. So Kap waived and Friedman down. |

Washington looks to be doing exactly what I'm saying we should be... trading their existing players, getting futures, and then using those futures to trade for a retooling of the roster. That is the only route that can make us competitive for next season.
-Zucker
-Blueger
-Dumo
Would you get a ton for them? Probably not anything significant like what Washington got, though Zucker maybe could get something. - SuperHenderson13
If you're going that route what about Jarry? He's a UFA. Are the Pens going to give him a big raise with his injury history? If not and if you're selling, you should see what you can get for him.
But that's just theory. Pens aren't selling because they are still mathematically very in the playoff race and teams rarely sell when they are. Might be smarter too, but they won't.
Likely looking at some bargain bin adds that don't cost premium future assets to add depth. And that's all this team deserves. There isn't a magic trade that makes them contenders, and you don't trade those to get wiped out in the first round. |

Jarry is easy, give him a base of $3.5M. Then add incentives, $200K for every ten games played, $250K for every playoff series he dresses.
One thing I do not do is give him a raise from his current guaranteed salary. |

Kane to the Rags - kfinl170
Can't help but feel getting him would be overkill for the Rangers. They have a pretty good thing going already. On the surface you'd think adding the big ticket rentals could only improve but often thats not the case. A lot of times teams doing this fall short. Not to mention I think the B's, Bolts, Canes and maybe Devils and Leafs are better even if they do get him. |

That's business.
Jarry is a top notch goaltender, the problem is he has a chronic injury that is detrimental to his position. I can't throw top money at him. Nor can I give him much term, two or three years tops. |

If it's truly a chronic issue, I completely agree. I'm sure the team knows all the medical information to make an informed decision.
