Yeah full NMC, can't waive or trade without him giving the ok.
You could scratch him every game and that could make him go somewhere - abcpens10
They should ask him to accept waivers and tell him to not report to WB. Just keep him in the press box. He basically got a 6 million dollar golden parachute from the Penguins and he's one of the most substantial reasons they suck.

then sign him to a 5 year extension
oh....
When the Pens fire Hextall, we'll send over Fletcher next. - rayc16
Amazing how former members of each respective organizations keep wrecking the other team. |

Washington looks to be doing exactly what I'm saying we should be... trading their existing players, getting futures, and then using those futures to trade for a retooling of the roster. That is the only route that can make us competitive for next season.

-Blueger
-Dumo
Would you get a ton for them? Probably not anything significant like what Washington got, though Zucker maybe could get something. |

Talk about kicking us when we're down lol. I think we're paying that bum 2 mil this year. - madmike71
Oh crap, I only mentioned it since Ryan Wilson is like Spector is for the Oilers. No matter what the article is/was about, it would cycle to "This is Jack Johnson's fault!" or in the Marc Spector case, he just hates on Puljujarvi 24/7
I didn't realize he was a buyout, I assumed standard UFA signing with the Hawks. Doh |

Wow Hextall does suck, I totally forgot we were able to dress "everyone" because Blueger was on IR at the beginning of the year. |

Ha ha...No problem. We have 3 more years at 900k for JJ. It's pretty comical actually. Rutherford did that and Hextall follows it up with 3 "hold my beer" contracts this off season. You almost have to laugh about it.

Would Kaponen + Dumoulin + 1st 2023 to CHI for McCabe + Johnson (both at 50% retained = $4.5M (=$2+2.5) vs 3.2+4.1=just under $3M freed cap space to bring up Rutta and have a bit more wiggle room) work? |

Per Capfriendly the Pens currently only have 18k in Cap space....so it seems to me that no, that couldn't work.
EDIT: sorry, I read that all wrong...it might work....but is Hex pulling something like that off? only Johnson he's pulling off is his own |

Well, McCabe is an upgrade on Dumo, and Johnson isn't any worse than Kapanen...if we can get them at a $2.8M cheaper rate than we're paying Dumo + Kap - and give cap space to bring Rutta back, then may be worth it... |

Oh there is about a 0% chance they retain on either of those players let alone both. |

Was putting it out there, as they basically get a 1st rounder to do so and can trade Kap/Dumo for more assets too... |

It's not like CHI will use the cap space in the next couple of years anyway... |

Who's had more success? Certainly not the unqualified retread known as Ron Hextall. |

More realistic would be Dumo, Kap, and a pick for McCabe and Domi |

I'd prefer connor murphy slightly, but he has 3 years left vs mccabe's two. Both have similar style and injury risks... |

They would want those retained slots for next years deadline. You would have to make a gross overpay to get them to retain long term imo |

Yeah, I thought about that -- and from PIT side, would prefer it. But, I think CHI wants to resign Domi. Either way, I think it would take more than a 1st to make that work on the pick side - especially as some retained salary would be needed on CHI so PIT can bring Rutta ($2.75M) back. |

I think a 1st is gross overpay, lol. PIT will be likely a 15-20 pick in a strong draft and CHI doesn't really need those two guys -- and separately they don't get a 1st, or without retained salary. CHI will have a HUGE amount of cap space in next couple of years... |

Not sure why Domi would re-sign in Chicago |
