Yep, the way JVR is playing I would be happy with a 4th at this point.
- MBFlyerfan

JVR is one of only three players on the team to be scoring at over 2 ES points per 60 minutes. It's not really his fault that Fletcher's Flyers have the league's worst PP. If you prefer counts, then JVR has one less ESP than Cates does despite playing 20 fewer games.

Many have stated that missing the off season training and most of camp really hurt. By all accounts players use their off season training to get their body in a place that can maintain the rigors of an 82 game season. Especially since once games start it severely limits the amount of actual training you can do. The whole season becomes about trying to maintain.

Farabee missed all that and has been behind the 8 ball all season in that regard. It's best the team writes off this year and just hopes he has fully recovered from his major surgery. Gets a full off season and training camp to train and comes back strong next season.

- MBFlyerfan

All this maybe true but look at Brink, he missed a lot more time and has 16 points in the 20 games he has played. They are not in the same league but still, AHL is a big step up from college for Brink.

Farabee has never played a full season, and since 2020 his career year so far, his stats have gone down. He has no leverage.

IMO he is playing afraid to get hurt, I know he didn't have a pre-season but we are halfway through the season.

Note sure if I am ready to trade him, but if a team called about him I would listen.

I would listen to a trade offer for any player but I wouldn't let a young player dictate when he gets moved.

then they need to find a GM who values that "stat". Add in being on a bad team, should get a late 1st no?

Remember when Joel Farabee entered the league, and he showed skill?

Let’s not pretend that the player the last few years has most definitely been trying to grind more, and more.

Development on display again.

At least we clear up 7 million in cap space for Chuck to overpay some other mediocre veteran.

Ugh all these 4th and 5th picks means a team flooded with Browns and Bellows.

Konecny, Hayes, Farabee, Tippett, JVR, Frost and Allison all score at a higher rate at 5 on 5 then Cates does. Despite getting first line ice time and playing with the top offensive players on the team. Cates ranks 8th on the team in 5 on 5 scoring rate.
- MJL

which is impressive for a rookie with heavy defensive responsibilities, playing a newer position in the NHL, with a positive plus minus.

Farabee also started out ok then hit a wall after many more games than Brink has played.

I think I agree with you. I think it's a physical issue with Farabee with the confidence issues that come along with it. Write it off as a lost year and look to rebound next season.

Damn, imagine being Craig Smith and getting traded away from one of the best teams of all time before the POs...

For a POS like Hathaway too…always felt like Smith looked great on Boston, not sure I would have moved him if I were the bruins.

Can’t emphasise enough the difference in pace of the NHL and AHL. Add to that travel time.

Can’t imagine that there is anything at all on the Farabee trade rumor. I mean, of course, with the state of things everyone has a price. I just don’t believe anyone would offer enough to move him. No sense to selling low. Hopefully, he enters the offseason healthy and rebounds big time next season.

Tuned in a little bit, they were lifeless, shots 19-4, love it. Makes it even better that it’s Hexys team now too. And just so happens that fan base is sick of him too

The Farabee situation is much the same for all the other players on the roster the last 2 seasons. How many of these players who have endured so much losing are really going to be a significant contributor when the team is a legit playoff contender? I think anymore then 3 players would be a stretch to believe.

The Pens are in good position to make the playoffs. Make a run and the fan base won't be so sick of him allegedly.

Some players suffers under Torts iron curtain system. Look at William Karlsson's last season with the Blue Jackets under Torts, 25 points. But he got almost 80! His first season Under offensive minded Gallant at Vegas.

That's true and Tortorella's system is archaic but that shouldn't factor in. The Flyers can't afford to just give up young talent and if Farabee is unhappy. Well life is a female dog sometimes. Get healthy, stronger and play.
