I'm not saying he's the sole reason for defensive struggles. Just that I think he was vastly overvalued when AP was there to shoulder the heaviest minutes. He's a good 3/4 defenseman when he has a decent partner, but he's not a top-pair anchor.

Dorion got worked. It cost the Leafs Connor Brown to unload like five years of Zaitsev’s deal, and they got a 3rd rounder back! Brown was a 3rd liner that the Leafs had no use for

Now Dorion, running a NON PLAYOFF team, is paying arguably more than that to unload a single year of Zaitsev’s deal
