Unfortunately I think both them and Det will pass us

Wouldn’t surprise me. I just see Detroit as a definite Sabres not so much.

Impact player with small minutes on ice was Martin last night.

Does anyone see LOU trading him at deadline?

Cannot see Lou selling as long as the team has a chance to make the playoffs.

Agreed. According to this website, the Isles still have a 32% chance of making the playoffs. Lou likes to roll the dice....

Nobody is taking on Martin and his extra year. Zero, nobody, zilch. Also, sure Martin has played well but the reluctance to throw an true offensive player up on that line in the last ten mins of the third down by two with lambert was to me stupid. Sure, Martin had five shots on goal yada yada blah blah but if anyone thinks he should have the opportunity to play himself off that line I’ll go ahead and disagree.

We have to give this team the best opportunity to score especially when it’s needed down by a couple of goals. I get spreading out what little scoring we have but Horvat hasn’t exactly excelled with Martin on his line. That matters to me a helluva lot more then what Martin is doing.

I agree about MM and nobody trading for him. I also agree about spreading out the offense unless you need goals late in the game. This goes back to Barry as well. As good a coach Barry was. he was also frustrating with his lineup decisions and understanding when offense was needed.

I like Martin but if the thought is he’s great up on that line(this isn’t the first time we’ve done this btw) then why didn’t he stick last time? Why don’t we just leave him there? Easy answers to those of course. I would have thrown everything at the Kings in the last ten mins what little offense we have. Just my two cents. I say this giving credit to Martin for how he’s played. He just doesn’t belong there.

I like Martin as well but not as a 1st line player. This goes back to the team simply not being built well. They have too many 3rd and 4th line grinding type players and lack the skill and speed for today's game.

Lambert’s hands are obviously tied with injuries but you have to give your offensive players every opportunity to score when you’re down a couple goals imo.

All sports are moving towards more offense. Islanders are slow to come around to this type of game. Does not mean you go back to the Cappy and Doug no defense days. Look at how the Islanders get very little help from the defense in terms of offense. Pulock having 3 goals is a joke.

Got a cap question. With all these trades where a team retains salary. In the off-season, let's use the Rangers as example. Say they have 10 million in cap space . Could they have 3 other teams sign Kane , Meier and Orlov to deals of 8, 10 and 5 million. Then trade all three to Rangers in separate deals . Retain 50 % on each deal and the Rangers get 3 really good players and stay under cap. I know Orlov may not be considered really good but I couldn't think of another UFA D Man for example. Is that legai??

He threw Palmieri out with horvat and Lee with 2 or 3 minutes left before they pulled the goalie

How is it that year after the year, the Rangers manage to make key trades and not give up the farm?

My question is why cant this team find ways to work those types of deals. We give up the house, the summer home, the Porsche, twin daughters.

Because of most players wanting to play for them and NTC's. Players have the freedom to sign with any team when they reach UFA. No reason they should have NTC as well.

Because the player's hot wives or girlfriends want to live in Manhattan.
