I'm not so quick to throw in the towel yet. There was enough talent on this team as it stands to get the Jets to 4th overall in the NHL this season. There is still some hope rather than throwing in the towel and having to rebuild over the next few years.

Meier now appears to be off the board for the Jets. He won't re-sign which diminished his value somewhat. Its not entirely out of the question because Chevy could still get back most of what he gave up at a similar time next year or possibly in the off-season.

As I mentioned earlier the focus is now on some of the talent in the NHL's official farm team ... Arizona , or some of the guys with term on struggling teams like Philly. Mabe Domi in Chicago. etc. Tough job for Chevy though when very few players want to come to the Peg. Its been said by some pretty sharp hockey minds that the Jets will never win the Cup simply for that reason. Heck, even I left Winnipeg in my 20's. The reality is that this might be true. Some of the answers to this will come in the next week.

Im starting to waiver after last nights game, sell everyone !!! I can’t do this anymore, this core is trash. Sell sell sell, rip off the bandaid and let me look forward to 3 first rounders in 2023 draft

And, you would trust Chevelallseasonoff to do this? All I have heard are reasons for why he can’t do his job for the last 12 years. I want a GM that creates reasons for doing an effective job. It’s time to get rid of this GM. #FireChevy

Next 12 months Jets have to do new deals or move the following:
PLD
Scheifele
Wheeler
Dillon
DeMelo
Hellybuck

So it’s going to be busy the next 12 months

Chevy gets a lot of the blame, some warranted, but he has the worst GM job in the league. In Jets 2.0 history who came here willingly? That was a difference maker?

Jets are what they are. Have to draft, develop, hopefully retain and then overpay for others or get them at the end of the career

In Chevy's defence, losing Buff and Little and getting nothing return stung.
However, his draft and develop plan has hit some snags. Some questionable drafting and even some questionable development plans.

Posters and fans are quick to blame Chevy. He has the toughest GM job in the league because most players don't want to stay in WPG. I think we are lucky to have Chevy and he has through the draft and some astute trades kept the Jets competitive. Sad to say but if Chevy did this job in a city like NYC , Toronto , Dallas, etc...he would have had no problem filling in the missing pieces over the years and signing or resigning UFA's and it would have probably hoisted a Cup by now.

I personally think that if you want to point fingers at those who are not doing their job then it's the players themselves who are the ones not meeting expectations. Possibly the coaches as well and their systems. Certainly, we can't point fingers at guys like Helle , Connor, and Morrissey. They have all been really good. Scheif has also been good this year. I think PLD could be even better than he has shown and so can just about every other Jet.

Edit: I'll add one other fact. Pretty much half the teams in the NHL have never hoisted a Stanley Cup despite many of them having desirable locations that NHL players would be happy to make as their home. Add in some teams like the Habs and Leafs who have won but not in a long time since the old era where there was a different set of rules for contracts or they were part of the original 6 or Original 14 where there was less compeition . Teams like the Habs and Leafs in particular but also the Stars, Canucks, Pred, and Panthers should be screaming from the rooftops about their complete lack of success. Absolutely no excuses in any of those cities.

Jets had 4 million dollars in cap space this year and were essentially a capped out team the previous 3 years, So I don't see using UFA's not wanting to come to Winnipeg as a valid excuse for Chevy's ineptitude when the Jets have no money to pay them in the first place.

Same thing with guys with NTC's. Guess what over half the NHL'ers don't have any trade protection that Chevy can obtain to improve his team yet somehow that never happens.

Are there challenges with the Winnipeg market? Absolutely. But a great GM can rise to the challenge to build a contender and Chevy who has been given 12 years to do that has failed.

I wouldn't defend Chevy for Buff and Little. After the 2015 season the Jets wanted to go young. Trading 30 year old Buff at the deadline in 2016 would have made more sense and the same goes for Little a year later instead of signing them to extensions.

Agree. Look how easy it is to improve your team when Chevy picks up the phone.

Yeah he picked up the phone sure, but it’s a player without a NMC or NTC so player has zero say also which is our only market really.

You can ask about players and hope they waive but he made a very good deal that addresses a need.
