A Stefon Diggs trade would come with a major cap charge for the Bills
Three years ago, receiver Stefon Diggs tweeted his way out of Minnesota. After three years in Buffalo, capped by a playoff loss featuring frustrations and gesticulations that could be interpreted as a desire for yet another fresh start, speculation has emerged again that Diggs could again be on the move.
Whether it’s his brother, Trevon, posting a photoshopped image of Stefon in a Cowboys uniform or cryptic tweets from Stefon himself, some are wondering what will happen next.
Although nothing can be ruled out, there’s one major complication that didn’t apply when the Vikings traded Diggs in 2020. Given the contract that Diggs received last year, a trade before June 1 would trigger a cap charge for the Bills of $34.775 million.
The other problem is that the Bills don’t really have any other high-end receivers. They could try to sign one or trade for one, or they could try to get one on the draft.
But they have one. It makes far more sense to make him happy than to move on after only 50 regular-season games.
Then again, any team that acquires a player who became sufficiently unhappy to seek a trade could become that unhappy again. That could be what the Bills are dealing with, and it could be that the two sides have no choice but to try to make it work.
They should be able to make it work. Stefon is a good-hearted person who desperately wants to win. And he may be wondering whether others in the organization want to win as badly as he does.

Team has zero grit and no heart. I feel sorry for the Sabres fans at the game yesterday. They had to deal with the Leafs fans and once again their team doesn't show up for a home game - pwasil7
I think it goes to show you that the difference between an average Sabres team battling for a wildcard spot and the leafs who are an elite NHL
The gap in talent and speed is massive.
Tampa will also expose the Sabres flaw |

The Leaf fans in my section were really nice fwiw. It helps there were two little kids right in front of us. There was a really good age distribution in the crowd last night. There have been times it's all 20 - 40 year old drunk guys. A lot of families from kids to grandparents in the arena yesterday. - lacaprup
My section was about 12-15 sabres fans and rest 19-25 drunks
Got nasty with some of the comments being said |

Not trying to be a smart ass or defend Adams however, this what they call the learning process. It sucks but what can we do? We don't want to be a cap team that's a a bad team. I'd rather not be a cap team and we can't trade just to trade. |

I think it’s time for Adams to move on from UPL while he still has some value |

Understand that and understand the process and don't want a trade just for a trade. His defense has been a weakness for awhile, really don't see the harm in trying to help that and really doesn't seem he has tried very hard to do that. |

+1 we arent trying to deal power we are trying to improve on kyle clauge...... is jyle clauge the future of the team..... do we expect him to be on the team in a year or 2? HE will waste money taking on bishop but draws the line at a player who can actually help the team? |

I guess we have to wait and see, he's not going to get into a bidder war for certain players. |

I agree with you. We are in FAR better shape cap wise than the leafs.. We have our top 2 centers locked up for the next 7 years at 7 large each. we have plenty of space to sign Dahlin and others in the future and we have a pipeline full of outstanding prospects.
Sabres still need a few things however the #1 thing is... A Goalie.. its really that simple. if our all of our goalies had Andersons numbers 2.79 GAA and .915 SV%, we would be firmly in a playoffs spot. I am sorry you just can't win with goalies who have numbers of 3.50 GAA, .883SV% & 3.55, .894SV%.
UPL is not the answer, 3.55 and .894 are worse than Michael Houser, 2.97,.917 Dustin Tokarski 3.40-.901 (with Sabres)
Find a goalie and this team is a playoff team, find a goalie and another top 4 Dman and this team can compete with anyone.

Lol at “we have better cap”
Congrats for having a better cap, the Leafs came in and just curb stomped you.
Having great cap savings means nothing if you don’t do anything with it. |

The worst one was when I said, "UPL needs to continue to improve to be an NHL starter." That sent at least 7 people into full pannies in a bunch mode. My position hasn't changed for two years: the lack of a starting goalie kills this team. Further, everyone on this board has identified defense as a glaring hole this year as well. What is keeping a top 5 GM from figuring these rather obvious points out?
Time's a ticking on any chance to improve this season. Tick tock but not on the Adams clock. - lacaprup
Whats great is even the Toronto fan that was here yesterday and responded to a post about we need to trade for Chickenman or Meier is realistic.
His response: Too soon

Good I hope he doesn't, but there were D that were available over that time that might have helped. |
