They're also going against a TML team that made a shrewd trade to go all-in. The Leafs are very good.

I thought the Leafs were a flawed team with suspect goaltending heading into the season which could put them closer to a WC spot than a division lock. I didn't believe in Murray or Samsonov as an heir to Freddy, and I didn't think their bottom six was very good.

Their goaltending has massively outperformed what I expected, and Dubas has augmented their forward lineup to make a run.

In short, yeah, they're better than I expected. We'll see if they can go toe-to-toe with Boston

Home record is going to be the reason this team don’t make the playoffs. 11-14-2 at home is just horrible and frankly unacceptable.

Sabres still need an impact forward and a better top 4 dman.

I really do not get this team. You want to try and sell out at home again and that is where you lose most of your games. Not a good strategy. How long does the rebuild have to go on? Another year without a playoff appearance. Something has got to change.

The second half of the season is when the teams who really want to be in the playoffs wake up and play hockey. That is when the Sabres struggle. Therefore, they are still no where near where they need to be. Cannot really win when it counts. Just give up too easily. Lets see if they can beat any of the good teams. My guess from over a decade of watching this team's "rebuild" is no. Too many long summers of not getting checked and just enjoying the sun will make almost any player want to miss the playoffs. That is what happens with a lengthy rebuild. It is just too late to right the ship.
