I meant like a week off of games. All Star was a complete week off right? I meant more physical maintenance. Hockey workouts and such.

I know what you meant. I was just trying to be funny. I think Farabee's confidence is gone. Probably a combo of his not being completely sure about his physical health with the neck, and Torts' mind games. He just doesn't look like the same player.

Granted he is only 22 and there is plenty of career left for him. But if what I am reading from what you said, I DO agree he needs a reset to get his head right. With him I am willing to almost write this season off and have him get a full off season of workouts to come back next season more like himself.

I would definitely be good with him getting shutdown for the rest of the season. I just do not trust this medical staff.

Do you actually consider Sanheim a young player still? Are you talking about the same player who is in his mid 20s and just signed for over 6 mill w max term?

He’s not been good this year. Not terrible, but not particularly good. We’ve made excuses for him by blaming his d partner, but in general there should be at least a little concern about a player that just signed a huge deal and now is underperforming. Maybe it’s the pressure.. I don’t know, but guessing Torts prob has some ideas and I could not care less if he’s scratched in front of his family or whoever.. pay me 6 sheets a year and you can scratch me all you want in Philly.

Also, why would I believe Torts is bad with young players after watching this year?

He certainly has his faults, but don’t see him being bad with young players. If anything it’s the opposite as he puts all players on the same playing field and simply does not care about your salary which should actually be a good thing for young players.

For years we have seen coaches in this town bench young players for poor play without holding vets to the same standard. Those days are the thankfully over.

Well said. I think this fanbase expected nothing from Owen Tippett coming into this season but I’d say Tippett is thriving under Torts. Noah Cates seems to be a favorite of Torts. Cam York went from the minors to one of our top defensemen this year.

Let's not pretend that Tortorella is not selective in whom he benches and who he doesn't. He has the same biases that every coach has.

Not sure I agree about shutting him down unless he is still suffering the effects of the surgery. I am more for just letting him work through it as this whole season should be a write off for him. It's not like they are playing for anything other than a higher draft pick.

Let him get a full off season and training camp next season and see what happens.
