You seriously make me laugh. Do you honestly believe that?

- MJL

Of course, how else are you going to trade Braun if he doesn't play? He hasn't played most of the season

I hate when MJL doesn’t give credit when it’s deserved but I hate when you over credit players. Nothing about this post is true.

He's not a good player and he is an example of what is wrong with this franchise.
- MJL

And his skating stride is absolutely ridiculous, watched when he scored he was like running on the ice trying to stand up!

LOL, doesn't matter that he hasn't played. Braun playing has zero to do with showcasing him.

Ersson has a .913 save% vs .910 for Hart. Most analysts believe Goals Saved Above Expected is a much better metric. Hart is 8th in the league while Ersson is 34th.

- Minnyhock

Ersson has a small sample size at the NHL level, but I have always been high on him. I don’t think Hart has reached his ceiling yet and having Ersson is gonna push him. It’s great! At age 23 and 24 respectively, I think with a better team overall, those two have Jennings potential.

First game that I have gotten to watch in a while. What did I miss?

I was surprised that it was a late afternoon game on a Monday, but it was a good game. Hope TK is okay.

Farabee must still be recovering. He isn’t as bad of a player as he has shown this season.
- bird_dog_pa

Who knows, he may never be the same after his injury. It may be more about his psyche than a physical issue at this point. At his best Farabee is just another middle 6 forward, which the Flyers have more than their share of.

Sanheim has had his head up his ass for about a month or so. He has not had a strong season. He needs to elevate his game. I guess a message is being sent but does that really work?
- MJL

Yeah, I think the scratch is long overdue. Let’s see how he responds.

He is 22 years old. He isn’t physically developed yet; that plus his injury has a huge impact on his performance and endurance this season. I just hope Farabee can enter the offseason healthy, then see where he is next season.

Imo goalies like Hart with a lot of defensive breakdowns in front of them eventually suffer some battle fatigue. It makes them look less good.

You skipped a step. First, prove that Ersson is better than Hart.
- MJL
I was kind of joking cause Ersson has such a small sample size. That being said, I think they are both sound positionally, but I may give the edge to Ersson athletically based on what I have seen. It's a good problem to have the fact that Ersson is even being discussed in the same breath with Hart. Now they just have to build a team in front of them. No big deal!

Ha! I'm like MBFlyerfan above in that I love ND but not the contract, as 2 years is fine for a player like him (see the Dale Weise contract - thanks to Hexy!). ND hits, can kill penalties, drop the gloves, and chip in a goal here and there. He's not blocking anyone, so on a fairly young team, he 's fine to have around. He definitely doesn't deserve all the hate.

He’s not blocking anybody because we gave away all the draft picks who he would be blocking had they been here, to get rid of other players who are better than him and to acquire players who are worse than him.

He’s not blocking anybody because we are led by morons too dumb to acquire or develop anybody who he would block.

Deslauriers is blocking young players. Any player can hit and kill penalties. The question is he an effective player. He isn't.

Barzal out indefinitely. Wonder what the Isles will do at center? Kevin Hayes perhaps?
- mickel25

I heard on 550 The Fan it was hayes life long dream to be a bruin -- the Flyers will eat half of his contract to make it happen - they team wants to be known as dream fulfillers going forward

Any timeframe of team providing new updates on Coots or Atkinson? Have they both been shutdown for year or still a chance to get some game sin this season?
- cdearth23

both are getting ramped up and should be ready to go by opening night

Nic Deslauriers always dreamed of a 4 year contract. He never thought it would be possible.

Completely outplayed with the exception of the goalie. I will give them props for not folding when Calgary tied it. I thought York had a good game and Ersson was awesome. Hard to believe that the Flyers may have two goalies that are good that they drafted.

If getting benched in front your hometown and family does not fire you up I do not know what will. You can honestly argue that Sanheim has been the sixth best d-man on this team for a few weeks now.

We will see how he reacts.

Farabee needs a week off. Rest up and replenish. Hopefully TK is not exposed to the Flyers medical staff.

Exactly. It's only been a few weeks since his last full week off leading up to the All Star Break.

I meant like a week off of games. All Star was a complete week off right? I meant more physical maintenance. Hockey workouts and such.

I think Atkinson injury hurt us more than some believe. If Atkinson plays this season, even half decent, you can trade him and make room for maybe Foerster. Now it seems unlikely.

Countless examples like this one throughout his coaching history too. I'll never understand why they chose to hire him to develop the younger players on this team.
- TobyFlenderson

Do you actually consider Sanheim a young player still? Are you talking about the same player who is in his mid 20s and just signed for over 6 mill w max term?

He’s not been good this year. Not terrible, but not particularly good. We’ve made excuses for him by blaming his d partner, but in general there should be at least a little concern about a player that just signed a huge deal and now is underperforming. Maybe it’s the pressure.. I don’t know, but guessing Torts prob has some ideas and I could not care less if he’s scratched in front of his family or whoever.. pay me 6 sheets a year and you can scratch me all you want in Philly.

Also, why would I believe Torts is bad with young players after watching this year?

He certainly has his faults, but don’t see him being bad with young players. If anything it’s the opposite as he puts all players on the same playing field and simply does not care about your salary which should actually be a good thing for young players.

For years we have seen coaches in this town bench young players for poor play without holding vets to the same standard. Those days are the thankfully over.
