I think Jarry is playing when he is probably still really hurt, so Ill chalk this loss up AGAIN to poor goaltending. Average goaltending gets you a win tonight.

The Penguins are a team that have no depth at forward or defense. They are a two line team. The top 6 is really impressive and deserves a lot better. The 3rd line is one of the worst lines in hockey. They literally do nothing.

The defense was "upgraded" this offseason where we got more expensive and older and yet we are playing worse than last year.

For all intents and purposes, FSG is asleep at the wheel. That was one of my worries when they bought us. When was the last time one of them saw a game? Saw the construction going on around the arena to make games far less worthwhile to go to?

U realize they’ve been a 2 line team for 5 years now right? Basically same team as last year.

While I agree that Jarry puked up a couple of goals, halfway through the game, we had already given up 5 odd mans versus only 1 for the Islanders. This is a poopty defensive team. They mismange the puck constantly. Been this way all season.

Eh not really, including last year. Guys like Carter, Rodrigues, and Heinen all were approaching 20 goals last year in bottom 6 capacities.

I attended the first Penguin game ever played and I can honestly say that I have never been this disappointed by a team ever. Even when they play good they always find a way to F it up. No excuses any more I am not going to watch for a couple of weeks Watching this team play is like watching the movie Groundhog Day.
With this lineup there is no way they can be this bad and falling like a rock in a cesspool I hope they do not make the playoffs because they do not deserve to. Give some other teams a chance and be done with it.

Age is catching up to the Pens core. A retool is coming. The Gino and Sid show is starting to show its wear and tear. I don't think it'll be a rebuild, but a retool. The Pens have enough assets to miss the playoffs for a year but come back stronger the next year. It's a good year to take a step back and get a good player in a strong draft. Time to get some defensive help and use free agency to build up the core.

Two of those goals were given up with the Pens' fourth line on the ice - not the third. That is totally unacceptable. Unlike the top three lines they are not expected to score - just generate energy/momentum while giving the other lines a rest and most of all, not allowing any goals against. They are not expected to take the risks that the top three lines are - just play sound defensive hockey. They can't even do that.

I know Carter is not earning his pay but at this point I think Dumo and Blueger (despite having less ice time as 4C) are hurting the team the most. These two could be traded for a bag of pucks and the team would be better off.

Still a 1/3 of the season left boys and girls...so much time to tighten up.

Probably wont come as a shock to anyone but I am not as down on them this morning as a lot of other fans. Sure, that is a poopty game to lose and it was definitely irritating to me last night but the difference was Sorokin once again. I mean, the Pens most likely win if Tanger buries that shot that he made a f'n ridiculous mid air paddle save on. Jarry has barely played the past two months and doesn't let in that trickily one on side of net when he's in form. He usually saves that shot for the 1st goal as well. If he stays healthy, you'll see him sharpen up and when that happens the PK will be better as well. We forget, or at least I do, how important he is with his puck handling. He's like another defender at times. He starts transitions. You don't see much of any of that out of CDS.

I have zero issues with them not in a playoff spot this morning. Desperation time. I love desperation times.

I agree with what you're saying but its hard for most of us to believe in, and trust, that our current GM could do this after some of his decisions this past offseason.

This!!! Honestly I think Hex (unless he makes some amazing big splashes during the deadline) will be let go at the end of the season. I think he already knows this.

As for a retool I 100% agree. They need to make some trades and get younger. Personally as I stated previously I would sell the farm to bring in some younger talent such as Chychrun, and Meier. We need to be aggressive in free agency as well.

Personally I think the best idea is probably leaning towards a seller this deadline get some picks and prospects back for Kap, Dumo, Bluegar, McGinn, Carter (fingers crossed), maybe even Zucker and Petry and go heavy into the offseason on bringing in the young talent and solid free agents. Also call up our WBS talent to replace these players to see what we have in the system.

I get its a crazy idea since we are sitting near a playoff spot, but the reality is this team cant take on the top 6 teams right now. Why not admit this team was poorly constructed this year and build for an even greater team next year. The next few years might be our last chance. If we can shed some more cap space for this free agency there are a few players who could bring something to this team Bertuzzi, Kane, Dumba, Bunting, and Domi.

The core largely isnt the problem. Sid, Geno, Jake, and Letang are all having solid years.

The problem is the supporting cast that our GM surrounded them with. A lot of passengers and useless players. I agree that a retool is necessary, but no one will have any faith in the retool if Hextall is still leading the team.

Hextall and sully don’t see carter as an issue and that’s problem #1. Can’t fix stupid.

It's pretty much the whole bottom six, and then Letang/Dumo. Letang has been mostly bad this year, making A LOT of dangerous passes across the blueline, etc. springing the team on odd man rushes the other way.

Most of us can admit this but I guarantee you there isn't anyone in the locker room thinking like this. Hockey players don't think like fans, they are not defeatists. If they did think like most fans do they probably wouldn't have even made it to the NHL. They are a proud bunch. Add to this that they know they had a fairly dominate two months already this season.

You guys do realize the Pens already "retooled," right?

Carter, Heinen, McGinn, POJ, Petry, Smith, Ruutta, Rakell, Archi, DOC, Poehling, Friedman

That's nearly half the lineup that was turned over since Hextall came in. He "retooled" and did it poorly.

hahhaa nah, no goggles....how many f'n times do have to say I don't have any grand delusions of this teams fate this year? I do not think they are contenders. My hopes, as stated many times, are just to make the playoffs and maybe make some of the games entertaining.

Did you even watch last night? how did they suck last night?

They've statistically been the better team in a lot of L's this season. Thats factual. Goaltending has been a major negative factor and Jarry let in sh!t he normally wouldnt last night while Sorokin once again stood on his f'n head.
