Character win (again). Down all these guys, I thought they played admirably in periods two and three. Oh, and Ilya Sorokin is the best f'n goalie in the league

Another gutsy character win without some key players.

Really think not having Bailey is a plus.

Man, it's going to be painful watching Sorokin play his ass off the rest of the way only to get pummeled and give up 3-4 goals a game
- keaner17

Yes he did. He has been the Isles best player this year.

Barzal is now expendable. Obviously. Trade him for our first and Raty.

Bailey and two seconds should help us get that contract off the books

While Barzal is out it’s going to be funny when we realize he was the problem all along.

If they get the pp going, watch out.

Wouldn’t shock me. As good as Barzal is with zone entries he is at times equally horrible once “set up”. He is perhaps the most guilty with slowing down in the offensive zone which plays into the PK’s hands imo. Let’s not forget his countless, unforced, turnovers on the PP. I like Barzal but I’m also objective enough to see his faults. Believe me I’m not saying we’ll be better without him. That’s a tough theory to hook the wagons too with our obvious lack of talent.

I am saying it will be interesting to see how the team responds to him being out. Maybe we’ll be better for it with having an understanding how to better utilize him. I’ll add Durandeau was impressive last night.

Yeah. Small sample size. I assume they’ll lean heavily on Dobson/Horvat for zone entries. Like I said I’m just interested to see how it plays out. Again, before this falls off the rails like it always does on here. I’m not saying we’re better without Barzal but I am saying it will be interesting to see how the team responds. I’ve always been a Nelson fan but could always acknowledge his inconsistency at times. He’s playing at a level now that I’ve never seen. He’s not packing it in. Interested to see how the rest of the team also responds. Who knows maybe a kid shines.

No question Barzal has things about his game he needs to clean up. Same with all the players. Maybe with Barzal out, it forces other players to have to step up? We have to see how this plays out.

That’s more or less what I’m saying. We’ll have a better understanding of what we have by the end of this.

Edit; I say this while acknowledging the answer is most likely “not much” in reference to what we have.

No worries Cpt. Barzal is one of the players you can criticize on this site.

Not necessarily. I noticed since Lameriello signed him to a long term deal giveaways and tape to tape passes to the opposing team are strangely no longer pointed out.

I meant in terms of the reaction like going after Lou and the 4th line and certain vets.

It helps being able to play Bo at C with Barzal out. If the Islanders can clean up the defensive play, it could be interesting.
