If he's a 7th defenseman there's at least a half a dozen of them every year in free agency. Take the pick and move on if he's not a core piece. - Aaron_85
Would love to hear some of these folks comments on Seeler last year. He’s played well, get rid of him if it’s a 5th or better. |

Canucks and Blues selling. Why aren't we getting any trade buzz - 2Real
No buzz in nomansland. Can you fathom this team getting even more boring to watch after nothing big happens on March 3, 3pm ET.❓️ |

I don't consider a replacement just any warm body. I consider a replacement the same value of player for the same money. Again, for the right price, I would move him. I wouldn't just trade him to trade him. Seeler is the kind of player that a team that is rebuilding should keep unless they get a good offer. |

He shouldn't block any young prospects. He's a really good fit for a 7th defenseman and a fill in in case any young player's falter.
There are other players who are blocking younger players. - MJL
Unfortunately we can't move those other defenceman that are blocking them because of their terrible anchor contracts.
I'd rather keep Seeler instead of having Risto & Angelo but nobody is going to take them. It makes sense to aquire a 3rd or 4th in a deep draft than keep Seeler for one more season playing him as a 7th D. Maybe they package the pick they get from Seeler with something else to aquire a greater asset.

I stated that if I could get a 3rd, I'd probably move him. Anything less and I would keep him. |

I thought you said you'd take a 2nd otherwise you're keeping him. Maybe I misunderstood the context? |

Seeler is not a player that is easily replaceable. He gives really solid value for a player with a 775,000 cap hit. That's not that easy to find. Veterans that might sign on the cheap normally want to do so to play for a good team. You certainly don't want a young kid sitting in the press box. Seeler is an ideal 6/7 defenseman on a team. If all you're going to get is a 5th or a middling prospect. Might as well keep him. Cheap decent depth players is what a team like the Flyers, who should be rebuilding need. - MJL
I would trade him for a 2023 3rd round pick or better, otherwise I would keep Seeler around. |

He seems to be getting his way quite a lot this season. - Tomahawk
True and the problem I have with this move is it sends a clear message that the Flyers are still playing for the playoffs, which even if it did happen would be disasterous for this franchise. I would have told Torts to stick it and kept Ersson on the Phantoms so that they have a good shot at making the playoffs, to give the kids down there some playoff experience. |

Torts was forced on Chuck by Scott & The Hiring Committee. It sure doesn't seem like Chuck has the clout to be telling Torts to stick anything anywhere. They're basically co-GMs at this point. |

I feel the same.
On another topic, i really wish they’d waive Sandstrom and send him down. The risk of losing him is virtually zero and even if they did, he’s not an NHL goalie anyway. |

Totally agree on Seeler. I've always liked him and as you said, ideal for a 6/7 Dman.

Two things bug me about the way they're handling the goalies.
1. While you're probably right Sandstrom isn't an NHL goalie, they seem to only play him the 2nd game of back to backs after not playing for a significant amount of time. He really hasn't been put in a position to show himself.
2. Just let Ersson play as many games with the Phantoms trying to get them in the playoffs and then hopefully some playoff games. |

Well that fight inspired the guys. Too bad it was the guys on the other team. Looked like deslauriers hurt his arm or hand too. |

Amazing how a team that started from a blank slate 18 mos ago is already so far ahead of the Flyers.
Remember all you dunking on their expansion draft? Look at 'em now, lol!

Ideally, the Flyers would like to get multiple teams giving competing offers for JVR. I can't see the Flyers getting more than 2nd round pick or a mid-tier prospect to rent JVR.
However, I think JVR would like to go to the Wild because he makes his off-season home in Minnesota and his wife's family is there, too. - bmeltzer
