Met Bo a few times. He is very nice. Loves hugging everyone and his wife orders his meals for him

It’s clear the Canucks will continue to fail and not be competitive for years.

Stock piling draft picks sounds great but won’t fix anything by itself. Trades and signings are needed and digging up a gem or two from outside the NHL (rights) will help.

All those moves have to happen in concert to break the stalemate of failure.

Huge goal and assist to help win over the pens tonight, not that he's moving the needle!

Unless they draft Bedard, it’ll be 10 years most likely. Gillis, Benning and aquilini have put this team so far back that they’ll have to develop and acquire assets with value before they can start a rebuild. So when I say 10 years I don’t mean cup-competitive, I mean being a consistent playoff team.

I wouldn't say the Canucks are in the exact same place because all teams are different. Scenario's aren't all that unfamiliar though. The Canucks probably look more like Colorado did at that stage minus the playoffs wins but in the fact that they have to make more hockey trades than TB did.

Colorado made acquisitions of Burakovsky, Nichuskin. Trade for Kadri. It doesn't look like Vancouver is going to add a Makar at this draft though.

I agree. It isn't where the canucks are but your post was a good one to add in my point is all. I guess what I'm trying to say is patience is key in sports as a fan

Patience? As Canuck fans that’s all we’ve been. Patience is easy when you can see a discernible plan to achieve success. When you witness constant ineptitude, patience is in short order.

Is that why Toronto traded all those picks for O’Reilly? Mortgaging the future when they should be patient?

Boeser(1.5m retained) and Schenn to Calgary?

Says Schenn is worth a 2nd, would Boeser at 5m be worth a 1st?

Say it's for a 23 2nd and an unprotected 24 1st?

I would.

Don’t get me wrong, Bo had to go but it’s funny to watch how the two fan bases react to the situation. Maybe the expectation of a captain is different? I don’t know, but the difference in attitude is striking.

I’m glad Beau is working out. Too bad it’s for a lost cause.

Uhh that's how sports work? Your patient until it's time to go for it.

Also it was 2 picks for ROR.

It was a moreso general statement on sports but sure, you've been patient. Canucks have some good young players (unless I'm mistaken) so it's cleaning up the ends and figuring out the long term plans. It's probably closer than it looks this year.

Hughes
Demko
Miller

Regardless, TOR should be mindful of the future and not squander away valuable picks for another first round exit. Patience.

But the bolded is exactly the problem. Regardless of ownership, management team, coach, or captain this franchise can’t seem to figure out how to clean up mistakes and have a clear plan for success. Instead, the team usually doubles-down on past mistakes and then takes a “day-to-day” approach to team management.

That “day-to-day” comment is an actual quote from our ex-GM…

So please forgive us for lacking patience. Some of us are tired of the ineptitude.
