I was referring to their goalie.

I’m actually happy with Horvat. They need a complete coaching staff change in the off-season. At this point, I wish someone else was in charge of the trade deadline. He’ll probably still trade assets instead of selling.

Lou does some stupid sh!t at times like you’re referring too but I can’t see him doing that. He said he’ll have a better idea what he was doing by the deadline more or less leaving the door open to sell. If he try’s to acquire someone, anyone, he should be shot immediately into outer space.

Bailey had one takeaway, thus avoiding the Bailey Six Pack he did however record his 30th BAILEY HAT TRICK OF THE YEAR!!
- keaner17

I would ask if this were an Islander record but there has to be worse.

This. It’s clear this team isn’t good enough. Stay in the top 12, keep the pick and trade anyone who makes sense. I know Casey has time left on his contract, but it’s not terrible and any team who needs “that guy” to put them over the top, he’s a Swiss Army knife and I think we’d get a decent return for him.

The guy is signed until he’s 36. Nobody is trading anything for Cizikas unfortunately.

I agree. Mayfield they can trade maybe Varly? Just not a lot of players they can unload. Malkin and Ledecky need to do the right thing and they need to start thinking of a new GM.

If we can get a decent return for Varlamov, mayfield, and Parise (if he wants to have a shot at a cup) the TDL was a success as far as I’m concerned. This team checked out last season. I have my doubts they dump Lameriello but I’m with you it’s time to move on.

He really doesn’t make that much money. He kills penalties, is great at faceoffs, can score, leader in the lockerroom. He’d be perfect on a few teams. If you can get anything higher than a 3rd for him, I would do it.

Guys like Mayfield, Parise, Varlamov…that’s easy. There’s no excuse not to trade them. I’m just trying to think of other guys. I’d even see what you could get for Nelson (because no one would trade for Lee). I’m not saying trade Nelson but if you can get a high return for him then why not? Unfortunately, there is no market for the rest of these guys.

I mean, just to add, some of these contracts are just plain old fashioned asinine.

Seems such an easy move at this stage of Lou's career and the Islanders needing a lot of work. Lou himself should realize I had a great career and it's time to enjoy retirement.

Trading Nelson should at least be explored. Lou thought the Horvat contract was too long and too much money. What about Lee? NHL has the worst contracts.

I like cizikas but I can’t imagine a team taking on an oft injured 4th line player signed until he’s closer to 40 then 30 at 2.5 million per. Hey, if we can sign me up but I sincerely doubt it happens. I’m all for trading anyone other then Sorokin. The problem is now we’re going into a rebuild with an elite goaltender in his prime and a player that’s 27 that we just signed to and 8 yr contract after giving up our first in a very strong draft and our best prospect.

Good luck trying to “retool” this team in the offseason with zero assets attempting to sign FA’s to put a competitive team together. This is exactly why the Horvat trade was (frank)ing stupid.

Fine so should Lou be then.

I can’t argue that….ultimately it’s on them. This teams last few games is a good indicator that they quit.

I hope Horvat REALLY likes Long Island because this is going to be a long eight years for him. Poor bastard.

I'm glad he signed quick, but I'm very surprised. That was part of my worry with the trade.

Best we can hope for is we somehow get into the top ten of the draft. Hopefully, miraculously, some teams go nuts during free agency and we get a first for either Varlamov or mayfield. Hit gold on one of those two picks. Sign a halfway decent FA. Buyout Bailey. One of Holmstrom or Wahlstrom becomes decent. Only to keep next years unprotected lottery pick that’s going to Vancouver out of the top ten. That’s what I’m calling a best case scenario

Self inflicted stupidity on so many levels.

I think you would have interest in both Parise and Palmieri for the cup contenders.

At this point a retool is the only choice. They've committed with the contracts to Barzy, Horvat and soon Sorokin. They absolutely must trade Varly, and Mayfield . They may get a 1st and a 2nd out of that. If so, they could potentially have a top 10 pick this year and another mid-late first rounder with two seconds. That could help a lot. Then they can explore their options (if any) with Bailey and perhaps free up that $5m for another player.

Nobody is taking Palmieri. Again, like cizikas, sign me up but it’s never happening. That guys an Islander for the full term of his contract.

Palmieri is signed at $5m thru 2024-25, you're not going to find a suitor there

That's going to take some serious wizardry and last I checked Lou’s magical powers ran out over a decade ago.

This is going to be some challenging offseason. The idea about Horvat is the timing and like many said it was two years too late. I would not have made the Horvat trade with the shape this team is in. Hopefully it works out.

You think this upcoming offseason is going to be challenging. Wait till the following when by all accounts we’ll more then likely suck and we’re not trying to make the playoffs we’re just trying to make sure Vancouver doesn’t get first overall with our pick.

The guy is a playoff beast. A team making a push would benefit from Palmieri. Same goes for Parise, and to be honest, I’d trade Anders Lee as well.
