Ek writes that management thinka theyll be able to sign Kane in the offseason…? With what money? Does he go get his surgery and then the Rangers sign him to a 1yr, 1m ‘show me what you got’ deal? |

Plus they kept Othmann, Cuyle and Kravtsov. - tomburton99
They kept everyone. It was very impressive. The loss of the lower 1st round pick is nothing to the Rangers considering the talent they already have in the system. And add that they already have a better 1st round pick. Drury compromised absolutely NOTHING here. |

If Tarasenko pans out like I think he will I’m gonna be real sad if and when we can’t resign him |

Theres no way we find the cap to keep him. Hes at least gonna cost about 6m to hold onto. |

Very likely one and done but you never know. Maybe he loves New York, loves played with Panarin. Rangers find a way to get extra creative in the summer lol |

The only way is if all our RFAs take major discounts for 1yr, while remaining RFAs next year when the cap is supposed to take a significant jump. However, we all know it doesnt work that way. |

Probably. Rangers have too many big contracts to add another without losing future. But since he gave nothing and it pushes the Rangers into a hopeful strong playoffs, I am game. |

Was thinking about this too, just gonna have to wait and see what happens. Someone substantial would have to go out the door. Can’t be Kreider, Trouba or Trocheck with NMCs. Lindgren comes to mind but his contract is a steal and that $3M wouldn’t be enough anyway. Chytil and Miller 100% need to be locked up. Think we just have to enjoy him and hope this is the year. |

Goodrow buyout is the most likely imo, or trade
23-24 +200k
24-25 +100k
25-26 -1,150,000
26-27 -3,650,000
27 all the way to 31 -1,258,333
Panarin is already off the books at the time it’ll be bad. We have no more buyouts on the books after this year
This is what they’ll do if they have to free up money. Lindgren is safe for one more contact imo
I’m a Goodrow supporter too, just seems like this is the most logical move |

This. How many times do the Rangers need to be on the hook for years and years for millions of dollars against the cap. |

They may not have a choice tho. He could get traded too, that’s not out of the question. He has a modified, so they’ll will be some teams he’d agree on. They could just attach a pick like with Nemeth. |

To keep buying out players is just compounding mistakes. One player will likely need to go, Goodrow could be that player. If that is the case - and prefer he stays - would think he is packaged with a prospect to a team with cap room. He does have a 15-team NMC, which will make dealing him even more challenging.

Goodrow. He is tradable to a team in need. Sometimes you trade a player when someone wants him, not when you want to. He is replaceable. |

Yea ideally that would happen. But he definitely is the first to go if they need to cut bait with someone |

Trochek is essentially now the more expensive version of Goodrow. |

Agreed. And if Drury is smart, which I believe he is overall, then he will assess this issue and find a trade partner during the off season and look for bottom 6 players that are true bottom 6. Meaning, jettison Gauthier types. |

We could easily grab Bjugstad whos making next to nothing for the 4th line, plus someone else like Lafferty whos already under contract for small beans.
I could see a team like the Kraken going for Goodrow. |
