In a deep draft, two 1sts are better than one. - MJL
One 1st and improving your chances of winning a cup is better than two late rd firsts. Will they win a Cup with him who knows. Could they have won a Cup this yr without him who knows. Without trading one of their many young assets they improved their chances this yr. |

Tarasenko to Rangers and maybe P Kane has surgery, it would be justice for the Hawks for the tank job if they received ZERO for Kane - wcorvette
Well...There IS that 10 million in cap space. So that is something.
edited to add:
They have 44 million in cap space this offseason, to go along with 2 first round pick in the next two drafts and 6 total picks in the first 3 rounds two years in a row. They will be back fast, probably faster than us by a longshot. |

I wonder what the asking price is for Meier from SJ. I would think TK would get similiar value in a trade at the deadline. It would be nice to see the Flyera get another 1st at the deadline. I would not even mind if the 1st got pushed to "24. |

Torts with some brutal honesty today about DeAngelo's defensive deficiencies. - Feanor
What did he say? Link?
edit: NM I found it...
wow
https://www.thescore.com/nhl/news/2570014
"We know what Tony is. I'm a little bit - not disappointed - but the defensive liability is something we need to work at. I didn't think the amount of work that we need to do with him ... I didn't think that at the point in time that we got him. But it is what it is."
DeAngelo has recorded a respectable 31 points in 47 games this season. However, his minus-12.3 defensive goals above replacement is the worst among all NHL skaters, according to Evolving-Hockey |

Well, they could trade Hayes- retain some salary and go give Larkin a 7 yr deal in the summer. Not advocating, just would not surptise me. |

They couldn't have kept Buchnevich because they could not have paid him. Could they have gotten more for him I am sure they tried. With the Cap and no Cap increase for yrs you cannot pay everyone 6M or more. - hfc355
We had this conversation when they traded him. I completely debunked that theory. They absolutely could've paid him.

I think the Rangers should be holding onto their 1st round picks.

Watching that period, Edmonton is not a very good team. They have some offensive superstars, but their structure is awful. They don't check well, have no neutral zone presence. They just want to trade rushes and scoring chances. They're horribly coached. With the skill they have, if they would tighten up defensively and create turnovers for transition. They'd be much better. |

Timo is an interesting situation. Accordijg to LeBrun, he is an RFA who would have a qualifying offer at $10 million. He speculates a multi year deal starts at $9 million. |

I know they are different type players and contract situations, but I do wonder what the trade proposals would be for both players. Granted, I do not think the Flyers have the courage to move TK at the deadlinr. |

Well, Konecny has some cost control with two more years at 5.5M. |

I haven’t watched them much this year, that’s not a team that’s winning anything. Or coming close. Very loose style of play |

I would assume a TK trade would start with the G compenation from FLA last season. Would they ask for another draft pick (not a 1st) or a second prospect? I believe the Tarasenko trade today actually helps to add value for the Flyers in trading TK. The cap hit under control for 2 yrs should be very appealing. |

Giroux was a rental and 34 years old. Konecny is still a fairly young player in his prime and not a rental. Hockey trades are difficult to make at the trade deadline with the cap picture around the league.

Good to see the PP back to where they should just decline the penalty. |
