No doubt that you have tons to offer up, but do you really want to cough some of that up for a pure rental when your team has many years of competitive window open? Can become a vicious cycle. Give a couple pieces for a Tarasenko and he doesn't gel, you have the same need next year with less trade chips.

And that should have been an automatic goal.

The one place we need to upgrade more than anything is the 4C. Whether that means getting a top 9 guy and moving Goodrow to the 4th line or adding a 4C like Barbashev, it’s a gigantic hole on this team right now.

Yes I agree. Lesyhsyn doesn’t provide much.

One stop shop

Tarasenko (50%)
Accairi
Barbashev
Mikkola

I wouldn’t be so gung-ho about it if they hadn’t made it so far last year. I think they’re ready to win. We are a RW1 away imo. Depth pieces too. But closer than people think imo

I understand completely and agree the Rangers are getting close. Been the same place a zillion years ago with the Pens. Just saying that the big name usually isn't the final piece. Looking back, Hossa = no cup and no 2 first rounders and 2 less young NHL wingers, Iginla = no Cup and no first rounder, Brenden Morrow = no Cup and no first round prospect, Perron = no Cup and no first rounder, etc.

Guys that actually did help win Cups were Pascal Dupuis, Nick Bonino, Trevor Daly, Ron Hainsey, Matt Cullen, Max Talbot, Ruslan Fedotenko, 38 year old Bill Guerin and Carl Hagelin(sorry). Not really any costly deadline prizes there lol

Same thing with Tampa adding Coleman and Goodrow. You need to add depth/grit, not stars.

Barbashev isnt a 4th line player. To me, he takes Vesey’s spot on 3RW. However, if you look at last years numbers, he looks like a player who might be capable to play 1RW. Is he your typical stud first liner? No. However hes no slouch. I dont think we can get both Tarasenko and Barbashev without giving up a significant amount of assets.

If we can some how afford to resign Barbashev and Acciari, Im all for it.

Chytil is playing himself into a scary extension. We may need Miller and LAF to potentially take a cheap, 1yr deal, that keeps them a RFA, and revisit a long term extension the following year when the cap is supposed to take a big jump.

I still think an upgrade from Harpur is needed before March 3rd.

Not get rid of him, but to me he is the ideal 7th defenseman, very capable of stepping up in a pinch if someone is hurting.

This continual carrying of Hajek on the roster is senseless, he hasn't played in so long it wouldn't even be fair of them to throw him out there.

Jake Leschyshyn is certainly not the answer.

Plenty of options out there for 4C, but yea Jake isn’t the guy. He’s a decent 13th F, and that’s probably a stretch. He looks like another Howden

maybe they'll upgrade from Vesey on 1st line, put him in the spot Goodrow is in now, and then make Goodrow 4th line center, and not acquire a different 4th line center

Ugly win, but two points is two points. Now road gets harder with Seattle on Friday, though they have been slumping a bit, and in Carolina on Saturday.

that Brooklyn Nets stuff is wild isn't it?

I mean, its basketball, but we are all draft guys here.

They traded their next 5 first rounders to Houston in the James Harden deal, they could conceivably give away multiple first overall picks the rest of the decade for a guy who barely played for them

I know the Knicks have historically been viewed as the dysfunctional one but what happened in Brooklyn is crazy. it's like the Oklahoma City tear down on a higher level

I’d move Vesey down too. I could get down with a Cuylle Goodrow Vesey 4th line

Just what I was thinking. I am not in the make a big splash camp, but obtaining a true 1RW instantly stregthens the bottom 6 with exactly the moves you've outlined. So, 1RW and 3LD is really all we need. Like, LITERALLY all we need to have one of the most complete rosters in the league.

I don't think Harpur needs to go but ideally he'd be the 7th defenseman IMO
