I wouldn’t. Honestly. Chytil is a perfect example of why we shouldn’t. So it surprises me you would trade him, so soon I guess. I think it’s too early to decide it. I could see it happening tho
Vally made a point it’s Chytils 6th year since he was drafted, and Laf is only his 4th now. Meaning patience. Kakko too. You can tell Chytil is even a step ahead of them out there on the same line sometimes. But they’re holding their own, eventually they all get in the same page and look out. I really feel this way - Slimtj100
I’ll give u my emotions removed opinion of Laf. Should we keep him? Honestly I’m not sure. If we keep him I won’t be upset, but I’m still looking to see what type of player he will be. A great passer? Great shooter? Good 2 way player that has good possession? I’m still not sure. I think one of my biggest gripes with him is it looks like he’s WAITING for something to happen for him rather than MAKING something happen for himself. That’s what I always saw with Chytil, constantly battling and wanting the puck, shooting etc. and that’s y I always felt one day it would all come together for him, his effort was always 100%, I’m not sure I can say the same with Laf. Now maybe playing back with the kid line and getting a few goals, will help his confidence which in turn changes the way he plays/more aggressive/hustle etc. |

He’s a PPG recently. He’s getting there. You’re doing the same thing I did with Chytil. I didn’t believe Chytil could score because he wasn’t picking spots when he shot. That was my only gripe with him early on, now forget about it. His shot arsenal is becoming lethal
Laf is more cerebral, he’ll makes plays with head. Hes like Greg Maddux, and Chytil is like John Smoltz if I could make some weird analogy haha Chytil is way more explosive on his skates. Laf will improve on things it just will take time. |

Curious outsider question...with Chytil becoming a no doubt top 6 forward and signs of life from the other 2, if they continue to play well as a unit(obviously Chytil's not going to keep scoring 11 in 13) are the majority still as interested in coughing up a ransom for the big ticket players I've seen mentioned here? Or more leaning towards solid complimentary depth pieces now?

I’ve always wanted depth pieces. 4C, 3rd pair LHD and maybe another depth middle 6 forward. |

Right now, I think the priority list for most of us goes…
#1: 3LD
#2: A Goodrow type bottom 6 forward
#3: top line RW
We very much want that star forward for Panarin and Zib, but the depth stuff is more of a priority. Were also at the point where were not willing to give up the farm, might give a piece here and there but thats it. |

I think these are the pieces Drury has available for rentals:
-Kravtsov
-Jones
-Robertson
-Gauthier
-most of the prospects
-all their high picks
I think they end up with Tarasenko for a very manageable return. Kane just has to many question marks, unfortunately for me

I would have loved Kane but Tarasenko isnt a bad plan B at all.

Top Rw is one for me. I love Vesey but that duo would be so much better with a true sniper |

Top RW, a depth forward and LD should be what we grab at the deadline. We will see what happens. |

Star forward is always a want for every team, but not necessary to win a Cup if you have 3 solid lines that can score along with good set of D and the goalie...and you guys are real close to that now it looks like. Pens current run started with a finals loss then win having Pascal Dupuis stapled to Sid's side, and even worse with Geno
