Hahaha, trade the Blue man

Blueger's confidence is completely shot. Maybe he needs a change of scenery.

If he would have dropped down and McKinnon passed to his man who would have been wide open in the slot you would female dog that he dropped down. We argue a lot but I always thought you had a good fundamental understanding of hockey.

Zucker rotates over and basically covers two men, at that point the two men who are the least dangerous.

In high school we were taught defense and specifically, man to man coverage, is all about triangles. The puck carrier (ball handler in my case) form one point, the net and your assignment form the remainder of the triangle. You place yourself in a position where you are able to cover your man and block him from the net.

Once MacKinnon beat the two D, Carter and Zucker were placed in a three on two in a prime scoring area. Carter needed to slide over and take the most dangerous man. Who knows maybe MacKinnon scores anyway. This wasn't the only time he had time and space. He probably should have had three goals.

We are quick to point the finger at Dumoulin for getting burned all the time. But this a problem with the entire team. Earlier in the game Ruhwedel got torched by ERod. In that situation, ERod beat Ruh wide AND to his weak side.

Yep, once Petts gets toasted and Petry chases behind the net, responsibilities change.

Jesus Christ, forwards don’t drop down in a 4-4 situation. Carter eliminated the pass he took his man’s stick away. Carter was literally the only guy that did the right thing between himself, Petry, Petterson and Guentzel(who took another offensive zone lazy penalty). As for Makar Carter should have thrown the elbow into his jaw and knocked him out for the year. It’s hockey.

In all situations Jakey leads the team with 16 minor penalties...but is 2nd in penalties drawn at 17. So that point you keep making isnt quite as jarring in light of this info. Carter has been give 9 minors with only 3 drawn.

Our best in regards to this stuff is McGinn...he only has 4 minors (plus 1 fighting major) and leads the team with a whopping 20 penalties drawn. These are important stats IMO.

I think its possible Makar is the best player in the league. Hated that hit by Carter.

All the stupid penalties he takes negates the ones he draws.

Just like Rasmussen in DET. Always bad ones too. I want to fire that (frank)er into the sun.

What's with your strange love affair with Carter?
- jmatchett383

No love affair. I’m not in denial about the aging core of this team. I don’t try and mask the bigger issues by constantly blaming Carter for everything. I was the one that wanted to overhaul the top six and give Crosby and Malkin the best possible chance.

With how many superstars are traded in the NBA, I'd love for that to happen in the NHL.

The hype around a Connor McDavid or Auston Matthews trade would be huge. It will never happen because players have this weird mentality of going with the flow even when your team is a dumpster fire.

Wow. That's how you read it? What the hell dude?

Multiple people have come out and blatantly said that it wasn't all on Carter, because the 2D blew their assignments as well...and somehow you decipher that as "It was all Carter's fault, no one else did anything wrong." I just...wow.

hahah i think we're looking at this glass half full, glass half empty because I thought of it as all the ones he draws negates the ones he takes.

Its pretty break even.

I cant believe that 4 on 4 goal by the superstar McKinnon is still being argued haha. Its like a lot of people forget what Sid looked like 8 years ago. Very fast super star studs carrying the puck like that can disorientate everyone on the ice.

hahahah man...didnt say that at all here...just threw him, and his stats relating to this, in for sh!ts and giggles and it worked. I had an audible chuckle at your response.

However, Carter's penalties taken to drawn ratio is horrible in comparison to Jakes hahaha

Depends on the types of penalties you take. A good D zone hook or hold to kill a scoring chance is fine. Lazy interference and high sticks in the O zone or neutral zone are bad any way you slice it.

but geno is sooo good at taking those types of penalties. he has to be one of the most talented players that also takes the most stupid penalties

one of my favorite penalties of his was when he was serving a stupid offensive zone slashing or tripping penalty and as his penalty expired play went by the box and before he stepped onto the ice he put his stick out and disrupted the play, yea you cant do that bud!

The product is better and the league is better run and marketed. There is better parity in the NHL plus the players in the NHL arent missing random games for "maintenance"
