If that's accidental, then the same is true of this:

Marchand shoots while Johansson is skating back. Marchand skates toward the slot where Johansson had just skated into on his backcheck.

- jmatchett383

This isn't the same. Marchand is facing him and looking at him, knows where he and the head is.

EDIT: kind of looks like Marchand trips a bit into it too....

not to mention his elbow comes flying up almost as a follow through and he is known for being a dirty rat...2 completely different plays

anyway DOPS already came out and said it was more of a collision than a hit, not that they are a great judge at these types of things

and not that anyone should be kneed in the head while they are down, but if someone has to get kneed in their head while they are down, it should be marchand every time

Did Carter use a billy club or a baseball bat on Makar I looked at it but still did not see anything but he skated by and never changed direction unlike a lot of the hits Crosby received in the past that were blatant In terms of a judge ruling it was an accident Wrong place wrong time

Damn...there goes my hopes and dreams of him getting a few games, the Pens/3rd line/bottom 6 looking amazing without him and Sully waking up to the fact he needs to scratch him sometimes ...if even just for one night of a B2B that will be coming up....6 in total left this season...

Sure we do, Ryan O'Rielly, due back from injury before playoffs, via trade...or...Toews half retained from Hawks...or Roslevic or Kuraly from CBS...Dvorak from the Habs...

wouldn't be opposed to henrique either if some $ was retained, or if it meant unloading one or 2 of our below average contacts

Jesus Christ, forwards don’t drop down in a 4-4 situation. Carter eliminated the pass he took his man’s stick away. Carter was literally the only guy that did the right thing between himself, Petry, Petterson and Guentzel(who took another offensive zone lazy penalty). As for Makar Carter should have thrown the elbow into his jaw and knocked him out for the year. It’s hockey.

I think its possible Makar is the best player in the league. Hated that hit by Carter.

Carter does so many things right, they put a statue of him right in the high slot.

If he would have dropped down and McKinnon passed to his man who would have been wide open in the slot you would female dog that he dropped down. We argue a lot but I always thought you had a good fundamental understanding of hockey.

Carter definitely doesn’t need to kill penalties. Especially with Archie and Poe back.

Nah I don't think I would argue that. MacKinnon was the most dangerous man on the ice, in that pick your poison scenario, I'd rather put pressure on MacKinnon in the passing lane rather than worry about whoever that LD was. I think the correct play would have been to put pressure on MacK in the passing lane, much like a Dman drifts over on a 2v1 to try and take away the lane.

He was already in position to play the pass, he could have added pressure as he saw MacK come around the net.

I do agree with you that it wasn't JUST Carter's fault. Petts got burned, and Petry committed my no. 1 sin for a Dman. Dmen should never chase behind the net, he could have just come across the front of the net and met him on the other said. Dmen chasing behind the net are almost always left in the dust.

Pettersson also didn't recognize Petry was picking up his man, and corrected his course way too late, came across the front of the net after MacK already circled.

Blame to go around on everyone tbh.

Actually, after watching the replay again, he didn't even take away the LD save for like a split second when he wasn't even facing the puck carrier, he was like 5 feet away from him and then backed up off his man as MacK circled.

No. You don’t go chasing around the puck carrier. It isn’t a pick your poison play. Ever hear the term 3 men caught down low after a goal? There’s one sole reason the goal was scored, Mckinnons really good.

I dunno, I think Makar skated into the path of his shoulder, I'm not so sure that's on Carter. Dude was going in a straight line toward the puck before Makar bats the puck away and then Makar turned right into Carter's path to go chase the puck.
- j.boyd919

It’s funny that people actually think Carter, who hits no one all of a sudden decided to head hunt Makar. How about those high cross checks Makar put on Archibald from behind after Archie out worked him in the corner, then blew up E rod? Pretty dangerous.

This 3 day break, after only one game in like 10 days, is sh!t haha especially when that one game was high event and exciting, leaving me hungry for more. To make it worse the next game tomorrow night wont be on until 11:30pm in my neck of the woods....though my blood was still be pumping from getting off the ice from a 10:00-11:00pm game I picked up. Wont be asleep for this one.

Carter sucks*.

*now, currently in the present, hasn't always...we are talking about a top 100 goal scorer of all time....

Think Jarry plays tomorrow night? I appreciate what CDS did last game for the first 30/35 mins until the Pens took over but it seems to me like you get one very good start from him then a handful of sh!t ones. With the Pens usually giving up close to 40 shots against a game these days we need our starter back and the stud version of him, not the October version of him.
