I agree we lack grit which is why I'm kind of torn on Olaf honestly. The guy is the type of finisher that will win you games in the playoffs, but he's soft, and there's a lot of soft on this team. I'd also love Timo, but grit can come from the back-end too. The deficiency on this team is that we allow too many goals. I'm with Jcrag. This team needs a responsible top-4 D.

And it sure should come from upfront.
Why not get a guy who checks all the boxes and play him on the 2nd line?
Yes, he would be expensive...good players do...get good players when they're available.
Also, bringing one in shouldn't be viewed as either or, rather both...they can and should get a 2RhD.
They have Cap space for years to pay both...it just comes at the expense of deadweights like Girgs, Okie, Joker, Mitts and upgrading what Olo brings.

EDIT: Think of it this way...Meir costs $9m in Cap and kicks JJP down to 3LW thereby displacing Mitts and his $2.5m Cap hit...net cost is $6.5m for and additional 30-40 pts + all the other attributes Meier brings over Mitts.

Cozens contract at $7.1 saves $0.9m on the Cap in my multi year Cap projection.
In my view, that alone makes Meier or a similar player's Cap impact that much cheeper.

Adam's got his cost certainty with Cozens out of the way...now focus on throwing the boys a bone and go get an upgrade at a position of need!

That's it, he has some Certainty with his cap. Imagine having your 2 top C looked up long-term at 14.2m and your future 3C still on his ELC and won't get a huge 1st contract. You could have all 4 Center positions locked up for about 20m for the next 5yrs. They can jump in the game, Cap should be no hindrance in any deal as long as Adams doesn't loose him mind and I don't see 23 trades on the horizon.
