This is essentially what the Rangers gave up today to get Tarasenko. Jjonah, you have read the market well.

Its quite a bit better then what was given for Tarasenko, that D prospect the Rangers gave has been playing in the ECHL, Blais has very little value, think he was only in their for cap or contract limit purposes.

Essentially the only pieces of value the Blues got was the 1st and conditional 4th round pick.

Get Meier. Don’t care what it costs. He either helps you keep Dubois by showing we’re for real (the money for both is easily found), or he gives you a perfect winger to help Perfetti transition to C at this level.

If you’re getting a defenceman, it has to be one capable of knocking Pionk out of the top 4 (or better yet, having Pionk going back the other way).
There are no “depth” options better than what we have in house. We have a log jam on the blueline. Either clear someone out (Pionk and Stanley), or get a name so big we don’t care anymore.

Also Schenn and Edmundson are terrible. There’s a reason Vancouver doesn’t let Schenn play without Hughes, and a reason Edmundson was dumped by Carolina. We need only look at Moritz Sieder exploding after 30+ games of struggling as soon as he got Walman instead of Chairot to realize the effective “stay at home” defenceman is far more Dylan than Dillon nowadays

Trip down memory lane for ya:

On this day 30 years ago, February 10th, 1993, The greatest tandem in Buffalo Sabre history did a number on the Winnipeg Jets. Patty LaFontaine had a goal a 5 helpers while the magic man Alex Mogilny had 4 goals and an apple of his own. Grant Fuhr stopped 34 of 36 and the boys won 6-2.

Good luck the rest of the year!
