in practice he's practicing as the 4th wheel of the kid line
- jimbro83

Again. And GG should not break up the kid line obviously

Tonight feels like a really good place to try Krav on the top line. Shame it won't happen
- picklerick

Really is annoying. It’s the one thing that I can’t stand GG on

seems like only chance for kravtsov to get back into lineup would be an injury to Kakko or Lafreniere

I honestly don't think we will see Kravtsov play in another game as a Ranger, I think he's gone by March 3rd

or else what are we even doing? what benefit does Krav or the team get from sitting him forever? he never gets a shot and his trade value stays low

If hes willing to give Blais game after game I cant understand why he refuses to give Krav some consistent time.

What holes?

Paul Stastny, Jesper Fast, Derek Stepan, Jordan Staal up front.

You can re-up Staal for about $4 million. Fast for $2.5-3 if you really want. The others are bit pieces you can get for a million bucks wherever.

on D it's two bottom pair guys in de Haan and Coghlan, so you can replace them for dirt cheap elsewhere too.

Then you need a goalie. Kochetkov is already signed long term, so grab a vet guy for a year or two to platoon with him. That's $4 million tops.

Meier (at 10 million, but you can probably sign him long term at 9) + Staal + Fast + Goalie + four depth signings = $26 million on the high end.

- BINGO!

That's exactly what I am trying to say though. While the room is there for Meier, much of that cap space will be chewed up. I am pretty annoyed that they are in such a good spot. I am so tired of seeing buyouts on the books in NY.

is there even a chance a team is allowed to use an amnesty buyout (if it's ever done again) and then resign that player at a much lower AAV? Trouba would be the prime candidate for that

I think this is the kind of thing you get when you have a coach who has to win or else his job is in jeopardy

So at the very least play the guy against a team that's tanking

If Kreider could figure out his off wing he would be a nightmare. Speeding down the right side tee'd up to blast off the rush would add another dimension to his game. Although he wouldn't have that breakaway backhander anymore
- picklerick

Yeah, that's the problem. He couldn't adapt. Ovie didn't like it either. Some guys can't make the switch effectively.

we flip flop with him changing the lines too much to wishing he would change it up pretty often

I get the idea, but they weren't gonna change it up after the game the other night

But when Boudreau switched him long term it didn't work.

Probably. Especially next year, cause he'd still be cost controlled. As key younger guys are due raises.

Vesey deserves to be in the line-up. One of the hardest working forwards. I get why Gallant has him on the top line, but I would put Kravs there and drop Vesey down and sit someone else

So if you guys are the favourites for Tarasenko

And the Devils appear to be the top spot for Brock Boeser

That leaves Timo Meier to Carolina, right? right. Perfect.

- BINGO!

Sure. Meier for Pesce, Necas, Fast and your 1st, in perpetuity.

when I think of possible trades for Kravtsov, that's something that puts a wrench in them, like if we traded him to Aruzona, he'd never sign there

I think whoever they acquire by March 3rd is gonna replace Vesey and that scenario will eventually happen, it just isnt gonna be Kravtsov

Well the ideal place for Vesey is with Kreider and Trochek, unless they trade for someone better… i.e., if they get Barbashev in a deal with Tarasenko. Then Vesey would get bumped to the 4th line.
