That's exactly what I am trying to say though. While the room is there for Meier, much of that cap space will be chewed up. I am pretty annoyed that they are in such a good spot. I am so tired of seeing buyouts on the books in NY. - JRR1285
But that space being ate up INCLUDES Meier, so who cares?
it's Summer 2024 that's going to be tricky needing to sign Aho, Teravainen, Necas, Skjei and Pesce.
BUT if you have Andrei Svechnikov and Timo Meier locked up for the next 7 years at 16 or 17 million combined you're probably doing okay.
There's no where else to play him. They shouldn't break up the third line (unless you move Goodrow to the fourth and Vesey to the third) and he ain't going on the fourth. The third line is great as a checking line with offense and Vesey fits that bill, Krav does not - picklerick
Again. And GG should not break up the kid line obviously - picklerick
I wouldn't be against moving Kakko back up to the top line and sliding VK in with the kids. But, it has to happen without a drop off. I could see it, though. VK and Chytil showed some chemistry in their short time together.

Kakko is vitally important to that line. They just work great together. DO NOT TOUCH IT

do you have buyer's regret at all on Kotkaniemi? - jimbro83
Nah not really. He's been fine and is locked up for long term for relatively cheap.
He'll probably never be a top end scoring guy, but he's on track to be a 40~ point defensive C that costs a lot less than Jordan Staal did, so it's fine.

I think this would actually be fine. Kakko is fine with Zib and Panarin and Kravtsov would work well as his kid line replacement.
