I only saw the last 10 minutes or so. This is how a lot of games will go in the second half. Low scoring and tightly checked.
Tippett reminds me of JVR in the 2011 playoffs. Seemed like the best player on the ice at times. Not sure I would have separated him and Frost.
Anywho, McJesus is in town next. |

That’ll be a treat Thursday. Really hope Bedard ends up on the east coast, sucks McDavid is at 10PM most nights. I think he’s always had a little hatred for the Flyers since the Manning incident, his first game back against us post injury was a good one |

About this letter yesterday from Torts to STHs, something really bothers me about it. Not the content of the letter itself which I completely agree with, but that its coming from Torts, not Dave Scott. At the end of this year's Patriots season, Robert Kraft the very next day sent a letter to STHs telling them that the year just completed was completely unacceptable and changes would be made immediately. That was appropriate IMO because it came from the invested and engaged owner of the team. But here, you have a mid-season letter, basically cementing what Torts said in a prior presser that the team is building from the footers at this point, and its not coming from the CEO of the team, not even from the President/GM of the team, but the head coach? Apparently when it comes to bad news (which for most knowledgeable fans was actually good news) Scott and Fletcher can't be bothered to speak to the minions, so send the coach to do it? Shameful IMO! |

They found their hockey guy to run the show and get the kind of players that he relishes.

Why did it come from the coach? It has nothing to do with Scott and Fletcher not being bothered to speak. It was done that way for a reason. They are targeting the gullible faction of Flyers fans. |

It has nothing to do with who is running the team. It was a marketing ploy.

Lol common sense right. If you watch any of Torts post or pre game press conferences, do you think he would ever take the time to write a state of the team letter to STH 😂 |

You are missing the point. It's obvious they know that the fan base is very sour on Fletcher and Scott. Saying the letter is from Torts is the franchise's way of appeasing the fan base.
Anyone with a brain knows that Torts didn't write that letter on his own with no input from Fletch, Scott, and the organization in general.
Torts' name was put on it for optics sake only. They understand people will react more positively if it looks like it is Torts saying these things. It's marketing 101.

I do not even think the reaction is expected to be more positive. It is expected to be a ton less negative. Regardless of who it comes from it is nonsense.

That game last night was a snooze fest. Typical Islander hockey. Tippett looked really good though. I'm liking him more and more. Good to see Allison back in the lineup and not get hurt again.
Also, remember when you were in kindergarten and did those little worksheet games "which one of these things does not look like the others"? Well, if you watched Hayes on a line with JG and Breadman, you played that game again. He stuck out like a sore thumb paired with those 2. And last night, he was mostly brutal. Probably still working off a long weekend of partying. |

Ok I can agree with that terminology.
Bottom line it's not like Torts was sitting at his desk under a light penning this letter like Mark Twain. This was written by people in the organization, I am sure with input from Torts, Fletch, and others, and Torts name was chosen to be at the bottom for optics sake.

As the old school archaic coach that he is, he penned it with quiver and ink.

You keep saying Torts is archaic, yet time and time again he proves he has adapted his style to the current NHL, and it obviously works since the Flyers are around hockey .500 which is a miracle given a current roster that is without a legitimate top line and top defenseman. |

That Tortorella didn't actually pen it, doesn't make it shameful. Your take was that Fletcher and Scott didn't want to talk to the fans. That is not correct. The message that it sends is the issue.
