I would rather go big for someone like him rather than give up a 1st ++ for middle 6 forward

What is a bigger upgrade - Jarnkrok to Meier or Sandin to Chychrun? I think it’s the first, especially if it means Jarnkrok going to line 3. LW top six is a bigger need. It’s not clear he would stay anyway.

So you want 5 FW making 49m?

(Btw…. I’d settle for Motte and Schenn)

Maybe u can listen to the 32 thoughts podcast where Elias P says Luke is underrated and should be talked about more

I’ll trust his opinion over yours 😲

- mr.sir

Great. A player talking positively about a teammate. Surprising.

Hard pass on the schenn nonsense

What if he’s cheap?
As long as he’s not the only move, why not?
Depth could be important if Muzz ends up unrepairable.
I agree he may be too slow for both Tampa and Boston, but Muzzin also moves like his skates weigh 50lbs each.

For a 6th sure. But hed be an 8th dman unless they move a dman out

That we are talking about the need to buttress a top six forward group that already has 4 players at 40 million dollars reveals the flawed roster construction of this team. The fact that everyone sees a different area of need says it all, too.

Imo those boys up front need to sink or swim. Earn your $ when it counts and outplay your opposition.

Its the rest of thr lineup - the bottom six and the d gtoup that need added to, in particular players comfortable playing a greasier brand of playoff hockey. The other area worth considering is a powerplay quarterback. We need to win the special teams battle, and its pretty clear Rielly is not the guy to get it done quarterbacking this pp. I dont know if Chycrun is an option there - I dont know his game well enough. But if he is, he makes more sense to me as a bigger fish with the added caveat that you actually get to keep the player beyond this seaon.

Boone Jenner. I mean, honestly, is this what we're paying for with the MSM?

This is an article about TSN radio guys shooting the poop about players that would look good in a Leafs uniform.

They might as well source Hockeybuzz posts for crying out loud.

For a month, why not? Let things take care of themselves in the summer. He stays, he walks, he gets traded.

I’m not convinced that someone who’d be our 7th D and a guy who plays on the Sens 4th line are going to be big difference makers especially if teams like Boston add more.

In a salary cap world every team has its flaws. Tampa is still probably the best constructed team with a superstar up front in Kucherov, a superstar on D in Hedman and a superstar in net in Vasilevskiy. The fact that they can support the forward position with Stamkos and Point is pretty sweet. That said, they were still adding guys like Goodrow and Coleman in the pursuit of a cup. Colorado added Lehkonen and Manson and moved down Burakovsky and moving out Jack Johnson or Sam Girard as health or play dictated.

I don't view it as a critical flaw that a team that's 31-13-8 (.673 / 4th) would look for some more top-6 punch nor that they might like to explore improving the defensive end. Last year at about the same point the Avs were 38-10-4 (.769 / 1st) - so yes, the Avs were performing better, but they did have 8 of those wins in the OT or SO which is a bit artificially inflating.

The point is that the best constructed teams will still have flaws and needs and holes to fill and despite the Leafs contract structure being top heavy, they are no different.

While I completely agree, one is much more affordable for the next couple of years.

So who had Chandler Stephenson leading the Golden Knights in points? Seems like one of those prop bets that would pay out a lot.

Absolutely. But I guess if it’s not addressing that big a need then being more affordable shouldn’t be the deciding factor.

The problem with Meier is that you’re potentially competing with teams that are willing to pay the price to keep him after this year - NJ reportedly.

I want to see the Leafs get very aggressive this TDL and move to fill their biggest need. IMO, that’s top six LW. Meier is at the top of the list. If that doesn’t work, go after the next guy. I’m not overly concerned about next year now if they get a guy with term or an RFA in Meier’s case. They have options.

I agree, top 6 LW would be my priority. Meier would be close to the top of the list, but id also consider some others like Kane, Tarasenko, Larkin, Duclair, Bertuzzi, and Jenner.
