He seemed pretty clueless in that presser haha... Wasn't much conviction in anything he said |

That's his style though. I don't really have a problem with being vague. I hated Rutherford blabbing his thoughts to the world.

"Give Crosby, Malkin, and Letang the best possible rosters while they are still good. Will it be Cup worthy? Most likely, not."
So you think it is a good idea to do something that you admit most likely will NOT work? That's just brilliant! Wouldn't want you to be the CEO of a company I'd be working at! |

This team needs a #2 defenseman, a backup goalie, and oh yeah an entire third line. There isn't a trade they could make to fix them.
But if they want better chemistry, the only player they haven't removed from the 3rd line is Carter
EDIT- doesn't mean they shouldn't do anything, I'd try to make a couple smaller moves. But something big like trading a 1st and a top prospect feels like a waste. |

I dont agree with this when Tanger, Petts and Petry are all healthy....the other two points for sure though...
EDIT: actually, as for whole new 3rd line ...perhaps subtraction of Carter would be addition. Time for him to enjoy nachos upstairs more evenings than not. He should be the 13th forward if the Archie and Kap are back. A vet that can go in the lineup here and there when need be.

I do think if the 4th line can get back to its ways before injuries that the 3rd line there could be hard to score against while chipping in some goals. We know Heiny is capable of good hockey and we started seeing him find his pulse again before the break....might continue....might not haha |

It could be worse, he could've tanked this year and selected Nolan Patrick. |

The Penguins already have the answer. Call up Caggiula and let him and Archibald "run around and hit everything that moves." Problem solved. |

I'll add to that...first game after break is vs the Avs, who are starting to round into form, and have won 6 in a row heading into it, I believe.
EDIT: nope...their streak ended when they lost to the lowly Ducks right before the break...
EDIT2:...I could still see the Pens getting rocked though haha |

If you’re going to do that you have to play them against the other teams good players. Maybe injure a guy or at least piss them off. |

The pens could get rocked by any team on any night. At least Carter is there to take sole blame for any rocking they may receive. |

That can actually be said about any team any given night...well...except maybe the Bruins this season.
Also, you spelt Dumo wrong.

Well he has made 3 fairly significant trades in the last 12 months so I wouldn't say he hasn't been active. |

Carter is absolutely terrible at this point in his career but you are valid to call out the top 6.
The top 6 as currently constructed is -2 in 5v5 goals. |

Its the injury riddled D and CDS's fault...the forwards do not make up the full 5 players, in 5 on 5, and they aren't in net letting in 5 and 6 goals a night. CDS' GSAA is -6 haha
Their xGF and HDSC% are all above 50%, some combos above 60%
EDIT: none of this is to mention how an injury riddled incohesive back end can really F with forward lines' production. |

That is good and all but when do any teams, especially the penguins experience ideal circumstances with their entire roster fully healthy and playing to their potential?

I think most teams overvalue first round picks. Outside of the top 10, the chances of a player making the NHL, much less become a key player, is pretty low.
I wonder what the return would be if a team consistently traded their 1st round pick
(assuming they were a consistent playoff team picking after 16th) for young NHL ready talent instead of trading them for a veteran rental like the Penguins did throughout the 2010s.

Not at all. Not to mention the cap has him in a straight jacket which is mostly his fault.
Kap, Carter and bringing back the same tending tandem surprised me a lot.

3C. That's the move. If I'm getting greedy, I want a better back up tender. I don't think Hexy will do much......if anything.

He’s terrible in the role of work horse pack mule. He could be useful, or at least more productive. The top six wants to trade goals and hope they score the last one every night. |

Would you ask Rust to waive his no trade clause to acquire a 3c? |
