I only watched the first but I thought they looked great. Two or three solid opportunities and with Barzal on tbe wing, Horvat had a an immediate outlet in the defensive zone to Barzal busting out. I will say Barzal still needs to simplify things, especially with Horvat who seems to put himself in the danger zones offensively quite often.

You watched the best part. The team as a whole was unimpressive the second and third periods. Lucky they came out of Philly with a win. Expecting Horvat to have a big game in front of the home crowd for the first time tonight.

Fair, but from what I saw, I think 13 & 14 are gonna be a nice tandem. I realize small sample size, but that was also their first game together. Gotta win tonight...

Yep agreed on all counts. They came out strong in the first and kind of meandered through the rest of the game but held on. First game back, first game for Bo, etc. Hope to see a better full 60 mins tonight. Kraken has been playing good we’re going to need it.

“ I think, as far as the line is concerned, I thought Barzal was moving, and it looked like they had some chemistry together. I thought Bailey looked good on that line, smart player, and he fit in nicely to that thought process.”

Really? I think it got worse

First game back after a long break. First game as an Islander for Bo. They don’t have time but looks like they are going to need it. As far as Romanov is concerned yeah he was pretty terrible. His old(actually smoking hot and young) lady just had a kid so I’ll cut him some slack. Doesn’t explain the rest of the season though. If this team does make the playoffs he will absolutely be exposed with every opposing coach focused on his pairing. That I guarantee.

- Cptmjl

I only watched the first period but Romanov was the 3rd star of the game.

That’s hysterical.

Guess it makes sense they played in Philly he was a star for them.

I’m all about that guy leaving the team as soon as possible but if they can get some kind of production out of him now and if we actually do make the playoffs great. He’s not going anywhere.

He's definitely not going anywhere and I'm rooting for him to produce...but I have exceptionally low confidence that it'll happen.

Even though Bailey isn't really the best fit on Pageau's line, I'd still rather see Parise play with 13/14. At least give him a shot there until he proves Bailey would be a better fit.

Yeah Parise is a beast. He made one uncharacteristic bad play yesterday that lead to a turnover but he has been our best player game in game out this season imo. I believe IF we make the playoffs he’ll be a huge contributor. I don’t think it would be a bad idea throwing him up with Barzal maybe it would open up some space for them. I think Lamberts line of thinking is just getting the puck to Horvat and Barzal and Bailey for better or worse are pass first guys. Idk, that’s all I got.

If they actually think they are showcasing him as someone else on here said Lameriello is out of his mind. Nobody’s taking him

Forgetting the fact that it's extremely unlikely any team has interest in him, I don't even know who would fill that hole internally. If Wahlstrom were healthy I could see Holmstrom getting a shot on the left side but outside of that...there's really nobody.

I don't think they do, not if Lambert has any input on the matter anyway. He's been scratched and relegated to the fourth line this year. I don't see them extending a player who's been viewed in that light by his coach, even if he's a long-time NYI mainstay.

Common sense would say they won't do such a thing, but common sense has rarely played into their use of Bailey. While he may have been scratched a couple of times, the club LOVES him. Lambert himself has praised his IQ and all of the little things he does that people cant see. He plays on the pp, pk and top line. That speaks more than 2-3 scratches

You and Jimmy are putting these horrible thoughts in my head. I’ve just finally accepted the Horvat trade I won’t let you convert me.

Maybe, but Lou seems like he's prepared to make some tough decisions that may be unpopular with the team to keep a "contender" running in the new building. I'm not so sure they're going to see Bailey as a big part of the future, especially when the money they'd allocate to him could be utilized much more efficiently on investing in more scoring

We all have that little, abused, Islander fan, in all of us always stressed and ready to freak out at the drop of a dime from years of Snow and Milbury. Bailey had a great career and run for himself. I think that’s the way the organization looks at him at this point. Or at least they better be.
