Is that the Sabres - Buff36
If olofsson has 55-60 goals between this year and next, as a 3rd liner.
Its 6 million x 5 years is more realistic IMO |
|

I think someone will give Olofsson the Strome contract - 5x5.
I genuinely don't know what his trade value is though - Hank Balling
Significant age difference, when the contracts would be signed.
VO is an odd player. No clue how aging will impact him. He's no where close to normal.

Again is that with the Sabres, are you willing to invest that much at 29yrs old. |

That's 1RW money. Would be crazy, before you even consider age.

Don't know.
I think it's fair market value. I think I would probably do it because he would always be tradable with minimal salary retained.
Okposo, Girgensons, Asplund and Mittelstadt can all go.
I'd keep Olo (5x5). Upgrade the other 4. I'd be open to bringing back Girgensons but only on a 1 year deal. Girgensons can play defense at least. The falling and spinning and lack of scoring sucks but they need someone to play defense.
I'd be open to trading olo if the offers are ridiculously good |

Well I am sure there all having there problems there in Chicago. - Buff36 >
Pet peeve: "Well, I am sure THEY'RE having THEIR problems THERE in Chicago." All three in one sentence to show that they are (or they're) three different words with three different spellings. |

I would do both those trades, because it's for the now, and the future. - Buff36
I would tend to agree.

Then you are possibly blocking one of your prospects. |

Yeah I guess, sure Olofsson is helping the team and it's nice to see. Could also say his meaningless November and half of December is a reason we aren't in a playoff spot right now. He's playing very well right know, kudos to him. To me it's just raising his price. - Buff36
Couldn't have said it better

Lol....more people were at Harbor Center for the Sabres rookie camp than are at the All Star skills competition. It looks like a highschool event. |

Well if we are keeping some of these players than you might as well go and get Timo, cause you are blocking some of your prospects for a few years. |

Couldn't do it. I tried. Mitch Marner dressed up like Don Johnson tossing a soft wrister to 50-year old Bobby Lou in a cartoon breakaway competition was all i could handle. I hope the 250 sponsers there with their familes are enjoying themselves. Tage lucked out bigtime. Feel bad for Dahlin. |

I'll try a different angle. Is Krebs going to be 3C? Sure feels like that's the plan for next year. Mitts, Krebs, VO played 6 games together and didn't score once. Cozens played 5 games with VO + Mitts, and it was miserable.
If VO is in your long term plans, what does it look like? Jost is the glue guy atm. Can't imagine him as a key part of their plan.

Skinner-Thompson-Tuch
Peterka-Cozens-Quinn
Kulich-Krebs-Olofsson
Girgensons-Faceoff Guy-Rosen
Jost
Weissbach/Murray/Kozak/etc
Use Mittelstadt, Asplund and picks to upgrade the top-4 D.
If they move Olo and Girgensons, that's fine with me too |

Not sure that I need to repeat my stance:
Let olofsson play out his reasonable contract and have him go ufa after the 2023-24 season.
I do not care about "asset management " he was a 7th round pick and played 5 nhl years.
If olo is reasonable and takes a team friendly deal to return, great. If not, 1 if the many forwards in our system should be ready.
Not trading him this season at the deadline is the trade deadline move. - Boss34
I think he is Buffalo's biggest trading chip other than its number 1. I would trade him while his value is high especially if that were to get you Meier. On the other hand, I should say that I would only trade him though in exchange for a difference maker like Meier. He is having a good year and seems to be a good teammate. He has true value but if he gets you someone of that caliber that you can sign long term for big $s then I would trade him before you pay him. |

Definitely. good observation.
Certainly wouldn't mind upgrading olofsson.
You think olofsson has better value then say rosen or the 2024 1st? Kulich or oslund.
Curious how you rank the prospects or trade pieces. |

Well that's a nice plan, but how much value does Mitts or Asplund have. |

I feel the Sabres purposely gave Olofsson a two year deal to use him as a trade chip.
I believe they anticipated knocking on the door of the playoffs next year, except the roster had other ideas.
I find it hard to believe they would deal either Mitts or Olofsson now, despite it being the best time to move both. |

You said it well. Has this season really changed anyone's view on VO, most importantly the front office?

The Sabres should’ve sent Dahlin to the all star game with the goat head.
Why that ugly white jersey |

No they just know how game is extremely limited. Which it is
3rd line. 2nd pp guy. On a good team. They would slot him the same |

Management is probably still a bit unsure.
2 year deal / (4) 1st round forwards picked 2021/22. |

Olofsson's on the 3rd line on the highest scoring team in the nhl. Probably could be a 2nd liner elsewhere. |
