this org wants their prospects playing regardless of level.

they have no qualms hiring veterans to play behind prospects. Vinny and Subban were two such signings. Split starts in the AHL would not provide sufficient development for both players.

Let's take a step back. Wasn't he the guy that let Ullmark the all star goalie go. He signed Hall and Staal for some good coin. I'd say he's definitely in the top 32 for GMs but let's see where he goes from here

They have a top 6 prospect pipeline according to Scott Wheeler even with the promotions of Power, Quinn, Peterka, Krebs from last year and salary cap space coming out the wazoo.
