Well IMO if he can't get anything for Domi then maybe he's in over his head. Since he couldn't get anything for Strome or Kubalik
and let's be honest you couldn't see anybody committing $25 mil to Strome last year - BetweenTheDots
Stan couldn't get anything for either of them, same with Suter. I'm thinking there was no market for them.

I heard Chelios on the score earlier this week and he said when he waived his NTC, he was dealt in 3 days.
That was then, and this was now...but these things don't seem to be as complicated as we think they are from the outside looking in. - SteveRain
Sometimes they don't "formally" ask a player to waive until they have a deal pretty much structured. Maybe they have the players agent talk to the new team. Maybe they finalize the other pieces. |

I guess for me.....are any guys on this team right now going to still be here when the Hawks do start to enter a contender status again? Maybe Jones because of his deal? Anyone else?
I like Raddysh and can see the timidness not to deal him. However, where do most of these guys legit slot in when this team is good? Most of the guys getting top 6 minutes are 100% likely more role players so where does one put their expectation level at for a return?
Given what a crap shoot drafts are, I would prefer KD get a mixed bag of prospects and picks. THe more picks, the more chances he has to hit.... - SteveRain
I did not say the players I mentioned would still be with the Hawks when they were good again. But they are decent hockey players that could be here for the transition. (Unlike AA who is just someone who skates fast and is not very good at hockey.)

Sounds like Del Mastro has gotten all he can out of juniors. - BetweenTheDots
Well that’s good because he isn’t eligible to play Junior after this year. But you’re not quite right. He has one more thing he can learn, getting his Sarnia Sting team to the OHL playoffs, win the playoffs to compete in the Memorial Cup. He has already won two World Junior championships. it would be great to win the OHL title and the Memorial cup. Remember this was a similar trait the prospects of the 2009 Hawks had, many of them had been on successful teams and brought that winning experience to the Blackhawks. |

Thanks for the link........ Good to read Allan is assimilating into his new team.
It was a big day for Nolan Allan this Wednesday, when he was named an alternate captain for Seattle— only a couple months after getting traded to the team.

Probably a year or two at the Rock along with Allan and Kaiser beginning next season. No use rushing these guys. |

I was at the Oshawa game last night. Cal Ritchie was again MIA, he was there on the ice I saw him but he was going through the motions. The Barrie Colts have a Shark’s prospect, Brant Clarke. He looks to be a good one, engaged every shift and has some good wheels.
Behind me there was a guy scouting. He was looking at one of the refs, he wouldn’t say who. |

Isn't Clarke a Kings' prospect? 1st round pick in 2021. |

Dominic James also plays for Minn.-Duluth. Plays first line center, has wheels but not much else. UMD is just a .500 club this year, and if it wasn’t for Kaiser would probably be worse. Kaiser’s reminds me of a Nick Leddy (skating and size wise) except he knows how to play defense. |

And today Wheeler has BUF ranked #6 so in Wheeler's mind he has the Hawk's as having a top 5 prospect pool. Assuming that's on the strength of a deep stable of D prospects.
Great article by Eric Duhatschek in The Athletic today on the Kraken and it touches on the TDL. Goes into how Francis' style is to build slow and steady, a team greater than the sum of its parts centered on drafting and developing, a group that scores by committee which in the flat cap world kind of insulates itself from being devastated by an injury or two to star players like LVG. How the two expansion teams have different franchise building styles.
As the rebuild unfolds we'll start to see what KD's style is. Still so much we don't know about KD. Again, it's still really early but it seems KD is a patient sort who values skating.
Also mentions it just might be a buyers' market this yr due to so many bad clubs and ones that are tanking.

A 6th rd pick, high motor get his nose dirty type. Best case scenario James is a better skating Andrew Shaw type........ Good value/swing in the 6th rd.

Well said. There is much to be said about playing playoff hockey at the CHL level and going deep and winning especially so. ..... Finding another gear physically and mentally that many don't realize they have that high level playoff hockey can provide.
Del Mastro has been lucky enough, as you mention, to win two WJC Golds but a Memorial Cup is another helpful hurdle. |

If we didn’t have six Norris candidates on our blue line right now I’d say he should get a crack at full time next season. He can’t do the AHL, and Junior is doing nothing for him next year. |

Rangers seriously in on Timi Meier. Sharks supposedly asking for Othmann, a 1st round pick and one of Chytil/Lafreniere.

Don't see how the money works going forward fir the Rangers plus imo meier would help but that is not what they need from watching their games. They rw top 6 yes but need some road graters and defensive forwards instead. Plus othmann is not being traded NY extremely high on him. |

He hosts a local hockey show on either the score or espn1000 with Pat Boyle. Outside of that, I am unaware of any team connections he has. Likely hearsay so lets see if any reputable source (TSN, etc) report something similar. - SteveRain
The highlighted is the key here.
He knows nothing but still opens his mouth.

So Kane needs hip surgery and everyone knows.
So when you talk about conditional trades, sure your trade partner likely is interested in Chicago retaining some salary. And term with salary if Kane re-signs for more than one year come this summer.....possible.
One would surmise Kane needs protection in tough hard checking playoffs. He might not make it far into.playoffs with the hip issue and rough physical hockey. Therefore how does this diminish what a team would pay out for Kane?
I would bet he changes address by trade (or at) deadline '24 if the hip is ok. |
