The Lehigh Valley Phantoms earned their first victory of the season against the Atlantic Division leading Hershey Bears in a 5-2 win at the PPL Center in Allentown on Wednesday evening.

It was their first win this season? I didn't realize they were that bad!

BTW, Happy overgrown ground squirrel day, everybody!

Looks like at least down here winter is done (and never really happened). It's been unseasonably warm this past week with temps in the mid-80s, though the temps are back down to the normal 70s today, for the time being.

NHL Network program guide said they were broadcasting Phantoms game last night, but I had talking heads instead. Blackout?

No spots are going to be simply handed over to a young player. They're going to have to earn those spots by having an immaculate training camp and playing mistake-free preseason hockey.

Probably wouldn't hurt to block as many shots as possible, chip pucks in deep, and take the body.

The Flyers care about results. And that is simply winning the next hockey game. Pure and simple.

Listing the “nice pieces coming” as positive then bashing the gm who drafted them is hilarious

Facts...

... are simple and facts are straight
Facts are lazy and facts are late
Facts all come with points of view
Facts don't do what I want them to
Facts just twist the truth around
Facts are living turned inside out
Facts are getting the best of them
Facts are nothing on the face of things
Facts don't stain the furniture
Facts go out and slam the door
Facts are written all over your face
Facts continue to change their shape...

I'm still waiting...

I now only check Hockeybuzz like every 10 days or so. Unless I see scores when watching the sixers or eagles or Phillies coverage, beyond that the Flyers get nothing from me. What I wonder now is that when they finally fire Fletcher, how long will it take for me to find out. Will Philly fans cheer out in unison like the did when they finally fired Jeff Hakstok making it impossible to miss or will I see the next day when I scroll on the Philly my teams app because the management has lost all but the most die hard 1% fans.

I hate what this team has become.
I hate what this team is.
I have absolutely no hope that this team can improve.
I’d say convince me otherwise but until Fletcher is fired, I don’t care.

What will be really crazy is when (not if) Hakstol gets nominated for the Jack Adams award at the end of this season.

You clearly understand they will not open up spots. They may even bring in some plyers. Which is fine if they fit into the timeline.

I do not see 3 fwd having a legit shot. Nor do I see 2 dman.

- hello it's me 2050

going into next season Lyksell, Foester and Desnoyers all have a shot for a forward spot on the Flyers, and on defense, Attard, Zamula and Andrae will have shots. There should be no reason for the Flyers to need to go outside of the org to fill any spots they free up by trades of some veteran players this deadline and off-season.

that is your opinion. They don't even play Ollie now when he is called up.

Andrea has zero shot. None. Seems to me they have soured on Zamula. Wont be shocked if he is moved for a RHD in a similar spot.

They will though that is their M/O. Look at the current roster. who those players replacing? Brown and ZM? Well ex selke and Cam will be back.

I think the first 4 will have a shot but they could lean towards another year in the A, Zamula will need someone moved to have a spot. Lets see how they handle AHL playoffs and how well they do in the off-season. It is is nice having the choices. Emil will need a year in N America.

Today the Flyers odds of drafting #1 in 2023 are 5% and #2 5.4%. Bedard and Fantilli are still in play.

Jack Eichel averaged 1.775 points per game at BU in 2015;he became the 2nd freshman in collegiate hockey history to win the Hobey Baker Award. Adam Fantilli is a freshman ahead of that pace with 1.818 points per game.

It's correct. The Flyers were winless vs Hershey this season until last night. It doesn't say or imply they hadn't beaten anyone.

So, what teams do we think will be interested in JVR.

I would think Seattle, Buffalo, Winnipeg and Minnie just looking at their cap picture.

So if you take the Seattle roster the last two years and the Flyers roster under Hacstol , which team has the better roster ?

The two teams he took to the playoffs or the two he didn't? I'll take Seattle over the 15-16 team. I take the 17-18 Flyers over Seattle.

Thanks for the response. Were the 15-16 and the 17-18 teams that different talent wise ? I can’t remember.

Are we pretending that Hakstol was some elite coach? He got bubble teams to the playoffs every other year, he was ok, that’s it. He played Chris Vandevelde for 80 games two seasons in a row.

So what are people gonna complain about without the Flyers playing this week? I'll complain that I was actually gonna watch the Phantoms game last night on the NHL Network, but alas they blacked the sumafemale dog out. Had to watch the Canes trounce the Sabres instead. The Groundhog is a farce! How the hell can their be 6 more weeks of winter when we haven't even had a winter yet? Inquiring minds want to know. The next GM of the Flyers should be William Flemtoski!! Thanks!
