I get it, must be a generational thing ... the show is obviously a silly caricature but those characters remind me so much of my now deceased father (and his brothers). My father was the most ingenious guy that could make do with whatever he had in hand, must be a sign of the tough (economical) time period he lived in.

They were the kind of people that could "duct tape" anything and build a rocket behind their boat. Those guys lived life to the fullest.

I miss those "creative" old farts.

I have now become an "old fart" myself but I'm nowhere as "creative" or self sufficient as these men were.

same.i grew up in a apt building where every apt was family. one of my favorite memories is my dad and uncles painting the back porch. funny thing is, they all got tired of doing so they hired a pro painter to do it. (frank)ers painted every thing one color including the bball rim we had in the yard.
