Sammy made some nice saves in the first, the kind that drunk guys on forums notice and blow out of proportion, so he single-handedly saved the Leafs from being violated by the dastardly, hulking, brutish Boston Bruins. - gravyface

did ullmark make any quality saves? - senstroll
He did. It was a good period.
But for difficulty of save, i thought sammy made more. It seemed like Boston had more opportunity to get a goal and sammy shut them down.
But numbers are cool. |

Bunting is such a loser. He wont get a call the rest of the year after those tantrums - drexel
The bruins could have tied bunting to the zamboni and beating him with their hockey sticks and the refs still wouldnt have called a penalty
Bunting had reason to take issue with the refs |

Why should a player's tantrums affect calls from referees?

It just seemed that his mistakes and the worst of the team’s mistakes happened at the same time. |

The problem with bunting is he flopping around every shift and complaining about non calls. It would be nice if refs called penalties that were penalties and unsportsmanlike for flopping around. Bunting needs a few of those unsportsmanlike to stop him from doing that. He does take the most abuse as a player but it would be nice to actually get the calls when it’s a penalty. |

The Pastrnak save was excellent. Although f'n Rielly played the zone entry like a peewee player and gave the lane with the puck away.
The Taylor Hall save (pass out from the behind the bet, point blank bang into his pads) looked good, but it was more positional - he was just down and doing what he was supposed to and the puck hit him. If Hall bangs it to either near or far post, that's a goal - because the goalie isn't making that save inasmuch as he's hopefully being hit with the shot.
The Carlo shot from bottom of the circle, again, Sammy was out at the top of the crease, down and cutting the angle, and Carlo shot it into him - looked like an excellent save, but it was a positional play.
I think a case could be made for the save on the Zacha shot - I think it was on the power play? But he didn't get a lot on the shot, which I think gave Sammy time to make the leg save - still it was a decent save, but honestly one you expect an NHL goalie to make based on the strength of the shot.
So as much as he kept us in it in the first, I really counted the Pastrnak chance as the best save - but all of those chances collectively were all the result of various breakdowns in coverage, and in hindsight they more exemplify how our D coverage would go for the remainder of the evening. |

Im torn on him. Hes our only poop disturber and tries to drag guys into the fight. But the refs clearly hate him, which doesnt bode well for a playoff series.

Referees should not let the antics of a player affect their decision making when an actual infraction occurs. If Bunting's antics warrant one, give him an unsportsmanlike. |

Everyone gets so caught up with this bullpoop. What is it about Michael Bunting that the refs look the other way so often?
I want to harken you back to Matt Cooke, Raffi Torres, Burrows, Baraby, Tootoo, Laperriere, or more recently Tkachuk, Marchand, Gallagher, Wilson . . .
All of these guys have done their share of weasel/rat activities - and everyone knows about it, but I have seen them all get huge benefits of the doubt from the officials despite everyone knowing their reputations. The refs know to watch these guys and either they don't or they forgive the behaviour - and in some cases believe the best our of players known for demonstrating only the worst.
What is it about Michael Bunting compared to some of the deepest pits of sewer slime in recent hockey memory that sets him apart from getting legitimate calls?

He has a bit of a Tucker vibe to him at times.
But last night was ridiculous, the refs should have called some penalties for what occurred to bunting |

Leafs played Boston well without Matthews.
Sammy had a bad game and was the difference, he has been great this season so we let to slide.
Get some adds and we beat Boston. They have been the healthiest team in the league this season...something that is also contributing to their success. |

I don't think its all on the refs.
I think most of the poor officiating that goes on is the league telling them how to manage games. I am sure they tell them about the Bunting players and if affects how they call games. |
