Mean height/weight wise, BOS is less than an inch taller and 3 lbs heavier as of the opening roster in October.
Is that really the difference maker last night? Or was it our backup goalie Samsonov having an off night last night, and giving up 4 soft goals? - gravyface
Leafs play soft but they’ve the speed to offset it. Works most of the time but the PO’s are the real test. On Sammy he’s been great value Murray not as much. Imo need more grit & defensive D added. |

Sammy made some nice saves in the first, the kind that drunk guys on forums notice and blow out of proportion, so he single-handedly saved the Leafs from being violated by the dastardly, hulking, brutish Boston Bruins. |

3rd and 5th maybe
Also, really don’t want to use multiple assets to trade for Meier (rental or very expensive resign)
Trade for someone with term
Chychrun, Konecny, Jenner etc |

Who's threatening to fight anyone? Talk about lunacy. You were responding to him directly mocking the idea I said it was on Marner, you do this all day every day. Someone says something, you make a snide sarcastic remark implying it was obviously something else. You spend your life invalidating everyone's opinion on here.
I'm going on and on trying to get it into your head to leave my posts the (frank) alone so this isn't a thing anymore, don't think it's an unreasonable request. But you're so (frank)ing arrogant you just can't let a person even have that without driving in you'll do what you want. - joel878
No Joel, I didn’t respond to Fake as a way to mock you. Fake and I have had lots discussions about Rielly and Marner before. I’ve said before that I think they take more blame than they deserve. He might (probably) think I’m full of poop on this and other points. But he’s never called me senile or talked about how people are going to react when I die. For some reason, that’s a you thing.
Just so you understand I tend not to respond to your posts and I’ve only been doing so where you’ve been insulting or attacking me. I’m done now so I can get back to my bad trade ideas.
Oh, and I wasn’t implying you were trying to fight me. I was just remembering your rant with AA when you two were trying to figure out how to meet up to fight and how excited you were going to be when you fought him. |

This was, and always is, the difference when we play Boston. Toronto gets too fancy and they make too many mistakes. Whether its turnovers or missed assignments due to aggressive pursuit of a failed opportunity - Boston's 'team' maturity often shines through in that regard.
That said, they have lost in regulation only 13 times - and while every team is definitely going to lose their share of games, you could probably comfortably guess that at least 2/3rds of those losses came in games where the Leafs were too careless.
Yesterday, Sammy was not consistently good and there were a few breakdowns in coverage and Boston is a good enough team to capitalize. I'm not sure, from what I saw of our power play yesterday, that those missed calls would have changed much - perhaps on the Greer goal, but that might have abated the Bruins' momentum push for a bit.
It's not like we were missing our best player whose presence creates a ripple in the ability of the top-6 to be more effective. We should definitely panic and screech about how this team is never going anywhere. |

did ullmark make any quality saves? - senstroll
Yeah, but they didn't count.
The Leafs did generate a number of HD chances, but in truth they were more optically HD chances - they got the puck down low or just to the side of the net in the home plate area, but the resulting shot was more of a bang into the goalie rather than a real scoring threat. For much of the game, they moved the puck to the net okay, but they really didn't get as many grade A looks with room or clear possession of the puck near the net. The Bruins did get more of those for sure, and the Bruins did get more shots off with time and space to make them count.
It was definitely a quality vs quantity case in terms of the HD chances last night.

Agreed
You pretty much have to stay on your game for 60 minutes. Breakdowns caused Leafs to lose the momentum too often |
