In the Money Ball scene where Billy Bean is arguing with Art Howe about hislineup choices, reminds me so much of Drury and GG discussing line up choices (Hajek and Kravtsov). GG obviously does not like certain players and has no problem letting them rot.

I get what you’re saying. But we do need to think about cheaper options moving forward tho, that can stick around as part of the core. Jeannot kind of is that. 2 millish maybe? I think him and Cuylle on a 3rd line eventually could be really good, nasty to play against.
These first rders really aren’t helping us now. We’ve gone through the rebuild and the next step is waiting for us. We have enough in the cupboard where we can take a risk in places. It ain’t going to kill us. We have no room for guys as it is - Slimtj100
I actually think our cupboard is pretty barren - who do we really have outside of Othmann and Cuylle? I'm no prospect guru, so it's a genuine question because it feels like all our high end talent is currently on the roster or riding pine (kravs).
If anything i feel we'll need to restock and potentially trading away firsts and not having any for years can bite us in the ass. If we're trading firsts it better be for good/potentially long term young players in my view.

You're not wrong but the roster is very young and the window is beginning to open. There will hopefully be a couple of young impact players entering through the draft or other means but this team will soon be in a win now mode. Prepare for a period of time with late round draft picks and a lesser farm system. You can't really be in championship mode and great prospect pool mode at the same time.

The thing is they’re all here already, for the most part. Meaning we’re a young team where older teams need them (high picks) asap. Can we ever be in a win now mode?
We aren’t the islanders man are they in rough shape down the road.

That’s pretty spot on
They have two this year. One next year. Keep one of them for this year, trade the other two is how id play it.

I probably should have clarified/added this - just cuz we have a bunch of 1st round picks this/next year, doesn't mean we should throw them around for 4th liners/6th D level guys which i feel like some are willing to do. if we're using firsts I don't want it to be for guys that aren't worth them.

I 100% agree. Definitely some butt clenching coming up waiting for Drury to drop a nuke on the future.
If last year was any indication, I think he does a decent, maybe even better job. I thought he did a solid job of maximizing his assets traded away.

On Jeannot..all I can say is on CF (talking to pred fans) is they love the guy and probably wouldn’t even take a first for him lol. Remember these picks are in the 20s. A pick could be nothing as much as it could be good anyway.
How i would utilize my first rders is based on need. The need for Jeannot, as an example, is paramount because Blais has sucked so bad. The playoffs is where he wouldve shined, his type of game. We are teetering in being too soft, we literally saw this last year as the same problem. Going to the net and all.

You should use a 1st round pick as trade chip in exchange for player better than Tanner Jeannot. Pretty Simple.
