This year's Lyubushkin could be Nikko Mikkola; I don't know if we need another LD - but @ $1.9m, he's big, hits, is mean and definitely wins physical battles. He's also slow and absolutely not offensively dynamic in any way.

An interesting move with a lot of moving parts could be to move out Kerfoot if you can acquire Bjugstad; he can kill penalties, actually play centre, and he wins physical battles and hits. Bjugstad also makes $2.6m less so there would be additional cap flexibility - depending on whether we were into LTIR usage or cap space.

There's an even split around here, but I do like Domi. He wins more faceoffs than he loses - 55.5%, although he likely platoons strong-side for his draws based on his numbers. He also doesn't kill penalties so if he comes into the lineup, the person he replaces can't have a key role on the PK. I do think he'd be a nice affordable fit as the 2LW with Marner and JT.

Henrique would be nice, but @ $5.825 there's a more steep cost to get retention from Anaheim, since it's larger and spread into next year as well. I mean if they eat 31% ($1.825) and bring him to a $3m player, that's fantastic, but now the price for the player has just risen significantly. Henrique, for the record, does kill penalties and is quite good at it.

I am on the definitely do not want O'Rielly train. He's not only having an absolutely awful year that begs the question of whether he's physically done, but he'd be coming back from a foot injury to compound upon the awful year.

Frankly, I think if they got a guy like Mikkola and one of Henrique/Domi, it would probably be affordable and impactful.
