Perhaps on the surface of the sun.

Still plenty of hockey left for the isles to string together some wins and get in the playoffs. We all know hot goaltending makes the difference and I love the isles goalie tandem. I also think someone might look to shed some salary at the deadline which might help with leverage to make another move for a winger.

Imagine if Horvat was on this team when the isles lost game 7 to Tampa? Those 38 goals change a lot of one goal games.

Beau's talented and tenacious enough to go on a "prove the Isles wrong" tear where he'll look like arguably the best player in this deal for a stretch. But at some point he'll go back to shooting surefire goals straight into the goalie's crest for 50 straight games. I like him...especially the playoff version of him...but of all my concerns about the trade, losing Beau is probably dead last on that list.

Well Horvat is actually on this team, and could be a difference maker assuming the isles make the playoffs.

Yep which is exactly why I said I would’ve liked this move or something similar to it two years ago.

Well we’re lookin at a similar team. Anything can happen if they make the playoffs.

Wahlstrom is out for the season…..that blows

He is now, wasn't then. This team had a lot going for it in that series (thanks largely to an OT game six goal by someone). We first have to actually get in the playoffs, which Horvat or not, is rather unlikely. Then if we do, we can look forward to a series with Boston. Even without making another move, these guys need to play a much better game all around than they have in months just to get in

I don’t get the reference of Ovechkin….I was stating that the addition of Horvat is a difference maker.
With 30 games left I don’t see how it’s unlikely they turn things around. They’ve just added a legitimate goal scorer who can take face offs and immediately makes their PP better. Time will tell, but if I were betting, I’d bet they make the playoffs.

Have to wonder if Lou is taking a page out of my book and going on a two day bender, only to have three days of misery to follow. Have to say it’s pretty glorious while on the bender. Worry about the hangover later.

Saying I'd rather have Ovechkin as in...he wasn't available then....and neither was Horvat. This team is NOT the same as that team. They are older, slower and are missing a coach that may have made chicken salad out of chicken poop. Adding Horvat only does not suddenly make us the 2020-21 Islanders + Horvat.
I'm not saying we won't be good or even turn things around, but by no means do I think this suddenly makes us a contender

Well if you’re looking at betting I think their odds to make the last wildcard just went up from 14% to 20% to make the last wild card spot

Edit; I’m sorry it’s 12%

I would however like to take a moment to relish the fact that we unloaded Beauvillier. I wish the Canucks blog was more active as I would really love to hear the chatter after he converts yet another a surefire scoring opportunity into a 'crest cracker' for the 20th time.

Now the narrative will be that Beau was the key piece that got us Horvat because he's so good and valuable
